Okokon Udo's blog begins: Can you hear the cries? Have you tapped into the global channel lately? Are you listening to what is happening? What an intense last couple of months, no, years, we have had. I have been holding my breath, hurting on the inside, sourcing, praying, wishing and hoping. I have been hoping that the level of polarization and extremism that is showing up in national and global discourse can be noticed. And that the awareness can provide us with data. Data about how we suddenly forget to celebrate what’s right with the world and resort to behaviors that are demeaning, marginalizing and plain destructive. And how in that space, boxes suddenly emerge. We become US and they become THEM. And the lines get drawn. And THEY cease to be human. And they become objects (aka enemies). And WE become justified in pointing (words, guns, pens, energy) at them and killing or destroying them, literally and figuratively.
Host Linda Lombardo and guest Okokon Udo talk about the lines of separation. Okokon is a global leadership consultant, facilitator and coach, and founder and president of Distinctive Leader Options, Inc.
Linda F. Williams is Founder and CEO of Whose Apple Empowerment Center. She knows, firsthand, how trauma can change the entire trajectory of someone’s life. In Whose Apple is it Anyway! Empowering Purpose to Achieve Your God-Ordained Destiny, Williams tells a story of emotional and physical abuse, rape, divorce and a 17-year marriage to a man later convicted as a sexual predator. Each page of this inspiring book takes the reader on a profound voyage of laughter and tears, heartbreak and triumph, as Williams escorts them along her own journey to wholeness and healing. The author guides readers in discovering their own Paths of Purpose as she reveals the secret to achieving the healing and empowerment it takes to realize their destiny.
An outgoing, talkative and mischievous child, Charmaine often engaged in debates with her parents and other members of the family. It was quite obvious to Granville and Norma that Charmaine would be in the limelight either as a politician or some other type of public figure. At the age of seven her path was identified, when after some considerable thought Charmaine exclaimed that she wanted to become a lawyer. Her parents asked her why? Charmaine responded, “[because] I am intelligent and I am a genius!” Her parents said spell intelligent and genius. Charmaine obliged (correctly) and the rest as they say is history.
What is Common Core? Who developed Common Core? Does it really ensure that all students graduate from high school with skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career and life? How is it possible that an “Education in a box” with a “one size fits all mentality” … can really work for individual students? How deeply connected is Common core on the Federal level vs State level? Does the Federal Government govern the Common Core State Standards? How much will it cost the states to implement the Common Core State Standards? And, what is the connection between Common Core and Islam?
Debbie Barth, and her OTC Panel ... Linda J. Alexander, Eileen Brown, Sandy Estlow, and Bea Kunz … will be tackling this subject that seems to have more questions, than answers. Whether or not, you have children in school … everyone is affected by the implementation of Common Core, within our school systems, statewide. This is one show that you don’t want to miss. In fact we have some callers weighing in, that will definitely get your attention. What they have to say about Common Core may shock and dismay you.
We invite you … no we ENCOURAGE you to call in at 323-792-3071 (press the number 1 to talk to the host) and give us your opinions of Common Core, and your personal experiences.

This month, Suzane welcomes special guest, Linda Bender, DVM.
A passionate, animal advocate and educator, Dr. Linda Bender's love of the natural world began in her childhood backyard. From orphaned deer to blue jays prematurely bumped from their nests, animals in distress somehow found a way to her loving arms. Her innate rapport with animals inspired her to earn a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
During the fourteen years she spent living in England, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, Linda’s veterinary work included the rescue, rehabilitation, and protection of wildlife, often in remote areas. Working with zoos in Southeast Asia, she treated animals rescued from the wildlife trafficking trade and helped reintroduce them back into their natural habitats. Among those given a second chance at life were clouded leopards, tigers, orangutans, and numerous species of rare psittacine and passerine birds. Working in the field with rarely encountered wildlife, she helped to develop treatment protocols.
For over twenty-five years, Linda has practiced meditation and studied many of the world’s wisdom traditions, including shamanism. Learning the traditions and ancient wisdom of indigenous people enriched her understanding of the sacred connection between humans, animals, and nature. These experiences helped shape her environmental consciousness and deepened her commitment to spirituality, conservation and animal advocacy.
A dedicated animal advocate and pro-active, grass-roots champion of animals both domestic and wild, Linda recently completed her first book, Animal Wisdom: Learning from the Spiritual Lives of Animals released in June of 2014. Her new book illuminates the undeniable ability for animals to restore our ecological, emotional and spiritual balance. Linda currently lectures and facilitates Animal Wisdom workshops worldwide.
