I received over 1500 emails asking me questions regarding giving their Income tax refund to the Pastor....IRS...Well, out of the 1500 emails 1000 of them are ANGRY because every time they turn around, Leaders are creating documents for the membership to sign, promising to give up their income tax refund or take out a second mortgage out on their homes to give to the church to pay off the debt...Is it legal and is it right to consistantly take extra money outside of the tithes and offering and leave people poor....LET'S talk about it....
Monday, February 23rd, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson allowed a new law to block future anti-discrimination laws (to go into effect 90 days after the legislative session ends later this summer). While the premise of the new law known as SB 202 appears reasonable, in actuality this law allows legal discrimination for all non-protected classes.
In this episode, we hear from three Arkansas residents. Meet once again Scott Wyant, Founder of Straight Talk Arkansas, a website dedicated to Living liberally in the Mid-South.
We'll also hear from Cathey Shoshone and Christina Harrison. Cathey is the Co-Chair and Christina is the Founder of Arkansans For Equality.
Christina Harrison was born and raised in Arkansas. She founded Arkansans for Equality in 2011. As an ally, she had become frustrated with the bigotry she came across towards our fellow Arkansans in the LGBTQ community and wanted to do something to help. She began a ballot initiative to repeal Amendment 83 soon after. Christina is a combat veteran in the Army National Guard, and has just recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan.
Cathey Shoshone, also an ally, was born in Arkansas but has lived in several states around the South. She lives in Arkansas currently, She "liked" the Arkansan for Equality facebook page and volunteered to collect signatures for the ballot initiative. The ballot initiative became obsolete when Cheryl Maples and Jack Wagoner won their case in Judge Piazza's courtroom legalizing same-sex marriage. A federal case has also overthrown Amendment 83 to the Arkansas State Constitution. This decision has been stayed pending an appeal hearing.

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison, and Tracy Baxter, Canadian activists from British Columbia, will join Bill Murray to lead this evening's discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America. Tonight's TOPIC: Are our Family Courts in Contempt? With judges running roughshod over civil rights and ignoring rule of law, as well as abusing the use of contempt charges and then gagging innocent litigants to cover up their actions, who is REALLY in contempt here? It is getting to a point where being a litigant in Family Court is as risky as being a random target on a firing range. We'll speak with legal expert Barry Goldstein, author of the books 'The Quincy Solution' and 'Domestic Violence Abuse and Child Custody,' with Robin Carr, advocate and author of 'The Motherless Child Project,' and with advocate Lori Callies. The cases and rulings they'll be discussing are so completely outrageous and utterly contemptible, you won't believe they are true. But, tragically, they are. This is one show you won't want to miss. ~~ Every two weeks a new THEME will be presented in this series, with frequent special guests speaking from their own experience. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/ForOurKids or write to: firstname.lastname@example.org
