Science shall tell us what to do, as evidenced by myriad manifestations ranging from regulating how long one may spend in one’s shower at home to the EPA’s wish to outlaw wood-burning stoves to central regulation of one’s thermostat from downtown, to the elimination of privately-owned single-dwelling homes and private automobiles as called for by the United Nations’ Agenda 21. Scientism is at the base of Technocracy. Here are some notes from Patrick Wood regarding Scientism: /

    1. The application of scientific methods to social and political modeling
    2. Science is the absolute and only access to truth and reality about man and the universe
    3. Scientism is specifically opposed to the Holy Bible as truth
    4. Scientism upholds Atheism – there is no God
    5. Scientism purports to be predictive, able to foretell the future
    6. Scientism rejects any opposing inquiry
    7. Scientism demands acceptance by non-scientists /

Scientism is defined at Wikipedia this way: /

“Scientism is belief in the universal applicability of the scientific method and approach, and the view that empirical science constitutes the most authoritative worldview or most valuable part of human learning to the exclusion of other viewpoints.”

  • Overcoming pain

    in Self Help

Mary was born with bi-lateral hip dysplasia.

At in 1990, the age of 39, barely able to climb stairs or stand for any length of time, I qualified for two total hip replacement surgeries. I savored my new life without pain but felt paralyzed by “shadows” that still remained from this life long journey. The overnight physical removal of pain did not remove what remained in my mind and spirit. For years, I  questioned both experts and friends, and spent years searching for an answer.

Then in 2003, she was involved in a car accident. Soft tissue damage returned her to a “hell hole of pain”. I vowed to not only survive, but also thrive in spite of pain. I knew this place to well and had spent too much time here. I could now navigate with resources, in an informed manner.

In 2012, I took a break from my 30-year career as an Artist and HS/College Art Educator to write my story, “Silent Courage”. There was an unexpected healing benefit of this “narrative therapy”.

Currently, Mary facilitates “Mining Your Soul Story” workshops, allowing others to discover the gems within their own life tapestry. To see that even the worst times are capable of leading us in better directions.

She is working on a series of children’s books about adventure loving mobility challenged children who do not feel comprised by their circumstances, only creatively challenged to solve problems and be able to fulfill their dreams.

Deepertruth: 30 Years Ago Today I Joined Active Duty Army

    in Religion

After returning back to the United States after being stationed in Germany for 3 years, I had learned a great deal in Germany. Within a year I was promoted to Specialist and received a lateral transfer to Corporal. By my third year I was promoted to Sergeant. This began my leadership in the Army. What a great opportunity this was for me. Responsibility is the best way to learn.  I loved the opportunity to lead troops, I would be given a task and it was my responsibility to exercise my leadership style. I was responsible for putting together a counseling packet for my troops. I ensured my Soldiers understood my expectations and received information from them to help know their situations. To know your personal is vital, to know their strengths and weaknesses to motivate them to improve.

In my early days serving the Army, my leadership loved me because I was a strong worker. You need that GP medium tent to be put up; I was called upon to set it up, a GP small, not a problem. You need to camouflage over vehicles, I always had a lot of fun with a good attitude in helping make us the best we could be. I was always competitive that way.

I was awarded the Impact Arcom by a 2 Star General (Major General Krawciw) for saving the life of a German national at Grafenwoehr April 1989. I was lifted up like a real hero. But all of this was made possible because of the supervisory planning I had enacted for this 30 day commitment. I had training taking place at each of the sites I was responsible. I was checking on my troops, I was at the right place at the right time. Sometimes it takes luck.

Manny Pacquiao vs Christopher Algieri Post Fight Review

    in Sports

Manny Pacquiao’s  aura of invincibility and dominance in the sport of boxing  continues after his outstanding performance in Macau, China. Chris Algieri did provide Pacquiao with a bit of a puzzle to solve in the early rounds, but eventually Pacquiao made the necessary adjustments to completely outclass his opponent.

From the opening bell Algieri remained tentative of avoiding any of Pacquiao’s power shots. He constantly used lateral movement, and Pacquiao had a difficult time cutting off the ring. Algieri was trying to get in a rhythm but accidentally slipped and the referee counted it as a knockdown. Algieri seemed flustered, but this was just the start of bad things to come.
