Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Indra Rios-Moore!

    in Music

Where does one begin with a vocalist of this ability - and magnitude?  Are they the same in the case of Indra Rios-Moore? Born in the Lower East Side of New York, Indra's Puerto Rican Mom (who named her after a Hindu deity of sky and rain) would keep her indoors.  She was afraid of the dangers OUTSIDE.  So, little Indra would entertain herself with Mom's vast collection of Rock, Soul and Jazz - that latter, we're supposing, partly influenced by Indra's Dad.  Of African-American/Syrian descent - a Jazz bassist: Donald Moore.

Through her teen years, Indra found herself in fascinating evolution.  She had truly been fearful of being on stage - and she was working through that.  Also, because of the early promise that Indra had shown regarding her talent, she was studying classical arias - as well as American Folk songs at camp.  Combined with what was already immersed as inspiration as a child, her inner repertoire expanded.

At 26, she met Danish Jazz saxophonist, Benjamin Traerup.  A year later, they were married and living in Denmark.  And Indra's career began to take shape.  Benjamin and his transplanted wife formed a trio - with bassist, Thomas Sejthen.  The attention that they received translated into accolades, nominations, and then a gift: the Danish Music Award for Best Jazz Vocal.  Three albums later, Indra is continuing to receive praise.  Her voice and the Hybrid sensibility that has always been part of her soul couldn't have arrived at a better time.

When you hear "Heartland", you will hear the echoes of the past (Motown and Pink Floyd).  You'll hear multiple languages.  And you'll feel Church.  As Indra has said: singing helps her move to an emotional place "where the mind doesn't interfere."

Our No Interference Chat Room awaits :)

    Free American

    in Education

Larry Pratt  Gun Owneers of America - In America, We The People have all been BETRAYED by our elected leaders. If this is true, and it is, What do we do about it? We Americans are finally waking up to the sad and tragic fact that we have been terribly betrayed by our elected officials in DC and all the major institutions of the USG.
The anger that is now arising and smoldering in mainstream America is unfathomable to the arrogant Establishment which is now being exposed for the first time publicly for what it is, Evil beyond imagination.
I woke up 20 years ago and started the Militia in New Mexico, The Free American Magazine and this radio show. The following films show a great part of what I have learned and much of that is documented in my book, "Mystery Babylon, the New World Order Unveiled" which documents the attempt on my life and the attempted destruction of my businesses and magazines. Everything I have tried to tell you is accurate and truthful. If we are going to successfully oppose this Jewish/Communist/English New World Order we have to work together. I desperately need your support and donations to travel and continue this battle! Clay Douglas

  • Not yo mamma's Public School system!

    in News

Remember when the public school system used to be a place where we honored the flag, said the pledge, had prayer, were allowed to be little boys and litte girls; if a little boy did something to a littel girl she didn't like or thought was gross the little boy didn't have to worry about being arrested or expelled but he did have to worry about her brother giving him a good old-fishioned butt kicken after school. Remember when guns where kept in the basement of the school in the JROTC room and that's also where you learned to shoot? It is not yo mamma's public school system anymore!

    in Radio

Master of the stage, performer for the soul, Eric “EQ” Young is known for his ability to fire up concert crowds with his high-energy passionate vocals and funky bass beats. This consummate musician has a long history of opening for, playing with, and being signed by established names in the business. Today, EQ confirms his place among the constellation of great Bay Area funk stars with the early release of 8 songs from his upcoming CD, “Just 4 You.”

Getting his hands on his first guitar at the age of 8—a gift from his grandfather, that had only three strings, Eric Young taught himself to play by ear. Imitating Sly Stone’s mixture of sound and tight arrangements on that misfit instrument ended up opening a life path to world stages.

Other radio stars of the period had a strong influence on his style, including Larry Graham, leading Young to switch to learning bass and studying music composition. Growing up in the Northern California Bay Area gave Young easy access to live performances of Tower of Power, Sly Stone, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Whispers, The Escovedos, Santana, Pointer Sisters. Their example put pressure on the aspiring star to master his instrument and showmanship, solidifying his vision of becoming a complete entertainer. While bands he auditioned for continued to turn him down, their rejections only fueled his ambition. So deep was his desire to be a performer, only at the request—and belt—of his mother did he finish high school.
