This week your Host, Fayola Delica will be discussing what the Holiday season should be about. The question we will be answering is "so what is in it for them this holiday season?"
As we are in full gear in the holiday season, knowing right after Halloween, people get ready for the winter holiday seasons. There are many celebrating various holidays from Hanukkah, Kwanza, and Christmas. During this season people send time with family and friends, put up holiday decorations, and buy gifts for their loved ones. Yet, the holiday should be more than just that. It should be about how do we share the holiday cheer with others who are less fortunate to do the traditional holiday fixings and celebrations. Therefore, I will be about the Christmas Challenge.
Let us not just think about ourselves, but about others. So, the Christmas Challenge is for every gift you receive, you give one to someone in need.
On that note, be a giver and not just a receiver!
Happy Holidays to you and yours. Peace and blessings!

Birmingham, Alabama - the Magic City - saw events and courageous people who played a central role in the Civil Rights struggle. World Footprints goes on a walking tour through history along the Civil Rights Heritage Trail as we step onto the grounds where African Americans confronted Jim Crow era voilence with non-voilent civil disobedience. We will also explore Kelly Ingram Park and Birmingham's 4th Avenue Business District and discuss the time when segregation made this the city's "Little Harlem".
Brimingham is also known for it's rich musicial traditions and we'll pay homage to two iconic musical figures: Henry "Gip" Gipson whose 'juke joint' is the last standing music venue of it's kind in Alabama. Gip's Place has welcomed musicians from all over the world and every Saturday music lovers travel miles for an all-night music tailgate party on a "Sanford and Son" style lot. We will also introduce Dr. Frank Adams, Sr., a charter member of the Alabama Hall of Fame, who regaled us with stories of his life, a musical set and his time playing with greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington. Sadly, Doc Adams passed away only one month after our meeting with him. We are honored to showcase his music throughout today's show.
As a side note, our trip to Birmingham was a very pleasant surprise. We highly recommend a visit to Birmingham, Alabama. There's a lot waiting for visitors to discover in the city "where freedom lives".
As the holidays approach, you can just feel the stress coming on....
Is it real stress or stress that is self-imposed? What is the difference? The holidays that occur at this time of year that include many cultures and traditions, seem to be wrought with stress and consumerism. How do we find deeper meaning amidst the chaos?
Today Nick & Joanna will discuss ways in which you can help alleviate the stress of the holiday season as well as find the deeper meaning that speaks to the longing of the soul for unity, peace, and connection.
Everything in life is cyclical. The natural cycle of the seasons tells us things about ourselves, our environment, and what we should be doing to nourish our unique nature to be in harmony with these cycles so as to stay healthy and impove our immunity during these vulnerable times.
Using the ancient science of Ayurveda along with other modalities such as hypnosis, meditation, yoga, and essential oils to tune into our essential nature to find out what's truly important and how we can reduce or eliminate those things that are toxic and increase those things that are nouishing and health-promoting. This is truly a time of going within and honoring the Sacred. We have a choice as to whether we will continue to participate in celebrating that which is about the physical or that which is about the soul. Which will you choose this holiday season?
