One of the biggest skills, in life, is to get along with people. John Maxwell wrote a book called "Winning with People." In the book he shares:
The Lens Principle Who you are determines what you see and the way you see it. What is around us doesn’t determine what we see: What is within us does. And who you are determines how you see others. If you are a trusting person, you will see others as trustworthy. If you are a critical person, you will see others as critical. If you are a caring person, you will see others as compassionate. The way you view others is determined by who you are. If you don’t like people, that really is a statement about you and the way you look at people. Your viewpoint is the problem. If that’s the case, don’t try to change others. Don’t even focus on others; focus on yourself. If you change yourself and become the kind of person you desire to be, you will begin to view others in a whole new light. And that will change the way you interact in all of your relationships. The Mirror Principle People unaware of who they are and what they do often damage relationships with others. The way to change that is to look in the mirror. Consider these truths that we must learn about ourselves: Self-Awareness. Human nature seems to endow people with the ability to size up everybody in the world but themselves.
The Big Picture Principle People who remain self-centered and self-serving will always have a hard time getting along with others. To help them break that pattern of living, they need to see the big picture, which requires perspective, maturity and responsibility. Here are some steps to follow: Get out of your “own little world.” Go places you have never gone, meet the kinds of people you do not know, and do the things you have not done before.
Today's Show features a LIVE talk John Maxwell gave on this subject.
Next up on my Filmmakers Series is Phil Falcone and John De Meo, who co-produced and wrote the film Joe’s War. The movie also marks the directing debut of Falcone. Premiered at the Garden State Film Festival, Joe’s War is the compelling story of Joe Caruso, a young Marine who attempts to return to his previous life upon returning home from the War on Terror. Watch the trailer here. The movie vividly depicts the daily struggles of facing up to and dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the devastating effects on family and friends. Upon his return home, now former Marine Sergeant Caruso attempts to seamlessly fall back into his routine with the help of his family and friends, all the while coping with his life changing overseas battle. Joe continues on a downward spiral, and in an attempt to regain control of his life, he enlists the help of some new friends and the aid of a therapist played by Armand Assante. Joe's War presents a realistic view of life with PTSD, and the film has many scenes that are difficult to watch. PTSD isn’t exclusive to the military; individuals with other mental illnesses are at higher risk, and women are twice as likely to develop PTSD than men. Approx 55% of US military personnel returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan seek health care services from the VA. In 2013, the VA spent about $600 million for PSTD treatment. Even though veterans are only 7% of the population, they account for 20% of suicides. And this needs to stop now. After the interview, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

Robert Kiyosaki is the author of "Rich Dad/Poor Dad." It's an eye opening book about the four different ways to earn income in the American system. He says, "On the left side of the quadrant are Es and Ss. They pay the most in taxes and trade their time for money.
On the right side of the quadrant are Bs and Is. They pay the least in taxes and create or invest in assets that produce cash flow for them even when they’re sleeping.
It’s my belief that the dividing line between those who are struggling in today’s economy and those who are prospering is the line between the two sides of the CASHFLOW Quadrant.
In this downturn, it is employees and self-employed people who are struggling as jobs are scarce and the cost of living is rising. Because they have only their time to trade, and that is not in high demand, they are at a disadvantage. Additionally, the products they need in order to live like food, gas, and more are becoming more expensive.
On the other hand, those who own big businesses and who invest are becoming richer and richer. Corporations are sitting on piles of cash and investors are cherry picking the best assets at rock bottom pricing.
Many in the E and S quadrants are holding on for the economy to pick up, and if it does, they will do well as the demand for people’s time—employment—goes up. That being said, the will still pay the highest in taxes and still be under the mercy of their employers and the economy. Until then, they will struggle because they have nothing else to offer and no other way to make money. Employees and self-employed always do badly in a down economy.
