The Parker J Cole Show -- Love and Marriage

    in Radio

Love and marriage, love and marriage,
Go together like a horse and carriage.
This I tell ya, brother, you can't have one without the other.

Love and marriage, love and marriage,
It's an institute you can't disparage.
Ask the local gentry and they will say it's elementary.

Try, try, try to separate them, it's an illusion.
Try, try, try and you only come to this conclusion:
Love and marriage, love and marriage

We've all heard the song before, immortalized by the suave tones of Frank Sinatra. A catchy tune that either one completely agrees with or no one agrees with.

After all, we have ample proof from society that love and marriage do not go together like a horse and carriage. In fact, marriage and love seem to be at odds with each other. Divorce rates are skyrocketing, whether Christian or not, in the U. S. In fact, marriage is seen as an unnecessary thing in order for a couple to stay together. After all, surely we don't need a piece of paper to state whether we're committed or not. Monogamy doesn't have to be in the confines of marriage, does it? We all know couples who have been together for years and are committed to each other.

So maybe, love and marriage don't go together.

But, is it all just about love and marriage? Is perhaps our definition of love somewhat skewed? Is love personified in the physical intimacy between man and women?

Let's talk about it on this episode of the Parker J Cole show. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app today. Any way you can, tune in

The Parker J Cole Show -- The Problem with Being Nice

    in Radio

Do you consider yourself a nice person? Why? What makes up a nice person? Webster's dictionary has several definitions for this word but the most prominent one is 'pleasant', 'amiable', and 'delightful'. Most people would like to consider themselves to be nice people. After all, nice people try to get along with everyone, not rock the boat on certain issues, promote harmony among their sphere of influence, etc.

However, there is a downside to being nice when all we focus on is the need to have everyone like us. Perhaps we seek too much validation from people instead of approval from God.

Join me for this episode of the Parker J Cole Show  as I talk about the problem with being nice and take your questions and comments. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV Radio mobile app today. Any way you can, tune in.

The Parker J Cole Show -- Sex in the Pews

    in Radio

There are thousands of Christians who sit among the pews every Sunday trapped by deviant sexual desire. Whether it is for ography, child abuse, adultery, or any other act, it is there, hidden and yet wide open for all the world to see. Pastors every day are challenged by the number of Christians who may enter into lifestyles that are contrary to God's word. This is not a new issue but more and more, the falling away from sexual purity is rampant.

How are pastors to respond to these issues? Should they just ignore them? Shoud they meet the issue head on?

This episode of the Parker J Cole Show is all about talking about the hidden sex culture of the church. We will be talking about this with Pastor Jonathan Sanders and his book, Sex in the Pews. The Parker J Cole Show -- The Lukewarm Church

    in Radio

Revelation 3: 14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Is the church in a state of being lukewarm? Are we making any impact on our culture today?

There have been scholars in the who have stated that the first three chapters of the Book of Revelation show the seven stages of the church. In the the verses above, it states that we are lukewarm. In essence, not good for anything. One wonders if the churches of today are mere symbols to decorate the landscape. Pretty buildings filled with people who make a lot of noise but don't do anything that God tells us to do.

It is a sobering thought and one we need to really delve into. The question I have to ask myself as I'm sure as other believer's ask is this -- am I lukewarm? Is God sick of my lukewarm state?

On this episode, we'll be discussing this with our returning teacher Martin Murphy. You can call in at 646-595-2083, and press 1 to be live on air. Or you can download the WLUV radio mobile app today. Any way you can, join us.
