The Parker J Cole Show -- Not God's Type

    in Radio

I've mentioned this several times in the past on this show but I will always be thankful to the atheist I encountered about ten years ago on a lonely night near Detroit at 3 in the morning. We had a discussion about God, life, and faith to which he asked me questions I did not have answers to. He led me on a path of entering apologetics and learning to love my Lord with even greater fervor.

On this episode of the Parker J Cole show, join me as I sit down and chat with Holly Ordway, author of the book, Not God's Type: An Atheist Academic Lays Down Her Arms as she discusses her journey from believing faith was superstitious nonsense to surrending her life to Christ.

If you're a skeptic, an athiest, agnostic, seeker,  a doubting Christian or not, this show is for you. Join me by calling in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app today. Tune in!

The Parker J Cole Show -- Love and Marriage

    in Radio

Love and marriage, love and marriage,
Go together like a horse and carriage.
This I tell ya, brother, you can't have one without the other.

Love and marriage, love and marriage,
It's an institute you can't disparage.
Ask the local gentry and they will say it's elementary.

Try, try, try to separate them, it's an illusion.
Try, try, try and you only come to this conclusion:
Love and marriage, love and marriage

We've all heard the song before, immortalized by the suave tones of Frank Sinatra. A catchy tune that either one completely agrees with or no one agrees with.

After all, we have ample proof from society that love and marriage do not go together like a horse and carriage. In fact, marriage and love seem to be at odds with each other. Divorce rates are skyrocketing, whether Christian or not, in the U. S. In fact, marriage is seen as an unnecessary thing in order for a couple to stay together. After all, surely we don't need a piece of paper to state whether we're committed or not. Monogamy doesn't have to be in the confines of marriage, does it? We all know couples who have been together for years and are committed to each other.

So maybe, love and marriage don't go together.

But, is it all just about love and marriage? Is perhaps our definition of love somewhat skewed? Is love personified in the physical intimacy between man and women?

Let's talk about it on this episode of the Parker J Cole show. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app today. Any way you can, tune in

The Parker J Cole Show -- The Problem with Being Nice

    in Radio

Do you consider yourself a nice person? Why? What makes up a nice person? Webster's dictionary has several definitions for this word but the most prominent one is 'pleasant', 'amiable', and 'delightful'. Most people would like to consider themselves to be nice people. After all, nice people try to get along with everyone, not rock the boat on certain issues, promote harmony among their sphere of influence, etc.

However, there is a downside to being nice when all we focus on is the need to have everyone like us. Perhaps we seek too much validation from people instead of approval from God.

Join me for this episode of the Parker J Cole Show  as I talk about the problem with being nice and take your questions and comments. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV Radio mobile app today. Any way you can, tune in.

The Parker J Cole Show -- Emotional Rollercoaster

    in Radio

"I've got to follow my heart."

"I feel it in my gut."

Our emotions are an huge part of our lives. We filter information, preconceptions, and make judgements based on how we feel. We listen to our gut when it comes to making a decision to do something.  If we feel right about something, then we ought to do it.

The sad part is that emotions are not a very good measurement for making decisions.

God gave us these things called feelings. How we use them is what matters.

Today's show is all about the emotional rollercoaster.  How to deal with emotions and then train yourself to take control of your emotions. Learn to be the operator of the emotional rollercoaster instead of rider. Join me as I talked with Lacresha Hayes, author, publisher, financial advisor, and all around cool entrepreneur. The Parker J Cole Show -- Schools are for Bullies

    in Radio

There's not a day or a week that goes by where we hear of some child being bullied by others. In fact, most of us have stories of being bullied by others in school. Growing up, I was bullied by some girls who constantly made fun of me and talked about me behind my back. Some people would say that being bullied is something that kids do and we just have to deal with it.

In today's world, bullying has led to a host of social ills with two extremes -- the bullied either commits a self-inflicted crime to get away from their attackers or they retaliate in a violent manner.

Despite this fact, it seems as if school administrators continue to keep this vicious cycle from happening. In fact, more than once, when the bullied confronts their attacker, they're the ones reprimanded for standing up for themselves. As such, schools are for bullies.

Let’s talk about this issue with my guest co-host, author and advocate Adra Young. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app. Any way you can, tune in. You're not going to want to miss this show
