    Genetically Modified Foods- Part II

    in Health

Commercial sale of genetically modified foods began in 1994; to date, most genetic modification of foods primarily focus on cash crops such as soybean, corn, canola, and cotton seed oil. Genetically modified livestock have also been experimentally developed.

The dairy industry increases milk production with the biweekly injection of a rBGH. Once injected into the cow, rBGH stimulates the production of another hormone, called Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1). Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) affects cell growth and is responsible for the quick growth of infants and calves.

While the IGF-1 hormone already exists in humans, it is usually bound to protein.Persons against the use of genetically modified foods fear that residues of added hormones in milk and meat disrupt normal hormone function in humans, especially developing children. IGF-1 in cow's milk is  biologically active in humans and the "cow-source" IGF has been associated with breast, prostate and colon cancers; IGF-1 promotes cell division, so it may behave as a cancer-accelerator. The FDA maintains that toxicity studies show IGF-1 is inactive when ingested by rats and is rendered obsolete under conditions used to process milk into infant formula. There are no clinical trial studies to support this.

There are over 40 plant varieties that have been genetically modified and now being sold including tomatoes and cantalopes (modified ripening characteristics), soybeans and sugarbeets that are resistant to herbicides, corn and cotton plants resistance to insect pests. Most vegetable oils and breakfast cereals come from genetically-modified ingredients since raw ingredients  are pooled into one processing stream from many different sources.   Shouldn't genetically modified foods  be labeled ?

Insulin-like Growth Factors in Colostrum, soy, dairy, deer

    in Health

Join Dr Jubb for discussion on superfoods like colostrum, deer velvet, rhino horn, whale (censored word :)..containing insulin-like growth factors that studies are beginning to uncover the important role the IGFs play in diseases such as cancer and diabetes, showing for instance that IGF-1 stimulates growth of both prostate and breast cancer cells. Insulin-like growth factor, IGF, is a protein similar to insulin. This factor is made by body cells to communicate with a cell´s physiological environment. Milk product having growth hormone has been shown to cause heightened IGF wrongfully to be secreted by the liver. IGF is important to regulate normal physiology; yet, is also involved in pathological states such as cell growth and repair and as neoplastic condition.   As always call in to ask Dr Jubb any questions on health, and healing.   GUEST CALL-IN (858) 815-2300 or toll free GUEST CALL-IN (877) 904-1630   Email your questions to DrJubb@DrJubbRadio.com Official Website http://DrJubbRadio.com/ Like Dr. Jubb Radio Facebook page here for updates! https://www.facebook.com/Dr.Jubb.Radio Show Twitter https://twitter.com/DrJubbRadio   Online broadcast at  9pm EDT. - 6pm PDT   Lifefood available at the Avocado Pit in Cocoa Beach.   Check for a live Video feed at http://blogtv.com/people/Lifefood-Life (in testing for future! :)

    World of Wrestling (2/15/11)

    in Sports

TNA's Against All Odds takes place on Sunday, so I'll get another chance to run down the current state of TNA. And along those lines, I'll be predicting disaster the next time TNA will be heading outside of Orlando for a PPV. Clay Matthews and the Pack were on SmackDown last week and I'll go over that, being from Wisconsin and all. And Chris Jericho was in the news slightly for a quote about TNA, but I'll use the opportunity to go over where he is at as far as wrestling again goes. It took place at last weekend, but this week I'll go over Inoki's title tournament in IGF that included a Suzukawa/Sapp wrestling match through circumstances as suspect as those that killed their "fight" on New Year's Eve.

    World of Wrestling (2/1/11)

    in Sports

The biggest Royal Rumble match ever, the event's other matches, and Wrestlemania will all be discussed in regards to Sunday's show. Other news stories that I'll get to this week include Ric Flair almost getting kicked off TNA's Europe tour, Jeff Hardy's case getting a bit of a twist in his latest court appearance, Satoshi Kojima and Giant Bernard getting title shots at the IWGP and GHC titles respectively, Kimbo Slice's impending pro wrestling debut in Inoki's IGF promotion, and Mistico signing with The E after several attempts to get him failed in recent years. Anything else I can find or that comes up of course will be discussed.

    World of Wrestling

    in Sports

TNA had its final PPV of the year--Final Resolution--on Sunday, AAA had its last major show of the year--Guerra de Titanes--on Sunday, NOAH ran Budokan Hall one more time this year with the Joe Higuchi Memorial show, on Sunday, Inoki's IGF promotion had it's final show of 2010 on Friday, All Japan's Strongest Tag League wraps up on Tuesday, and I will be talking about all of them! Also, I'll be going over the murder of El Hijo de Cien Caras, C.M. Punk at the announce table, Matt Hardy, and one match that I didn't want to see happen in 2010 is actually going to happen in 2010. Tune in to hear it all.
