When North Carolina passed a bill that denied LGBT people protections, it caused a dilemma for the NBA -- should the league move the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte? Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors was wishy-washy on the issue, basically saying nothing. Thankfully, former player and now analyst Charles Barkley is more forceful: "I think the NBA should move the All-Star game from there next year. As a black person I'm against any form of discrimination, against whites, Hispanics, gays, lesbians, however you want to phrase it. It's my job, with the position of power that I'm in and being able to be on television, I'm supposed to stand up for the people who can't stand up for themselves."
We examine the continuing controversy, plus look at whether baseball players should wear dresses.
Episode 205 - The HOT Corner Show with Special Guest Dr. John Charles Thomas PHD
Dr Ray and Manny speak with Dr. John Charles Thomas PHD author of THE WINNING WEEKEND WARRIOR.
The Winning Weekend Warrior aspires to enhance the participation, enjoyment, and success of the reader in all sports. It focuses on strategy, tactics and the "mental game." As it turns out, many of the strategies, tactics and techniques for the psychology of sports are similar regardless of the sport. In fact, many of these same techniques are useful in business and other aspects of life as well. This book is valuable for several reasons. First when it comes to winning, there is much in common among all sports. In terms of the mental game, the commonalities outweigh the differences. In terms of the physical game, there are also great similarities in terms of preparation. Obviously, different sports require specific skills but these are largely improved due to correct practice in the specific sport. You can practice a sport such as golf or tennis for many years and hardly improve at all. Time alone is not enough. You need correct practice and this book can help you make sure you practice correctly. A second reason to read this book is that even if you concentrate on one or two sports, chances are that you will participate occasionally in others. You may be a scratch golfer or a tennis star but occasionally find yourself in a basketball or baseball game. Even if your own days of playing hockey, tackle football and soccer are over, you might volunteer to coach these sports for kids, neighbors, or grandkids. In such cases, this book will help you translate the skills you already have in your main sports into these other domains. As you may have noticed, this is not always easy to do. Perhaps you managed to watch the basketball player, Charles Barkley (career average 22.1 points per game) struggle mightily to become a so-so golfer....
Let the March Madness begin. A look at teams to beat in NCAA Basketball Tournament. Which teams are about to snag a ticket to college basketball’s big dance, the 2016 NCAA Tournament? From its humble start in 1939 with only eight teams, the tourney has grown to a national obsession over 68 teams battling their way through the brackets to the top of the heap. Former player and NBA analyst Charles Barkley offered his March Madness prediction Monday night on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” Barkley says there is no one favorite, no Goliath to be defeated. “There’s a bunch of Davids. There’s probably 25 teams that can get to the Final Four and 10 teams that can actually win the tournament,” Barkley told the host. “This is going to be the most fun tournament. There’s no favorite … this is the most wide open it’s ever been.” Favorites are booted by upstarts every year, it’s just a question of calling which upsets will happen that lets you win the office pool. This year’s likely No. 1 seeds are Villanova, Virginia, Kansas and North Carolina, says Bleacher Report. First-round games kick off March 15, and play continues throughout the month. The Final Four games will be held April 2 and 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston. Join the celtics talk radio crew as they announce the bracket and key match-ups. LET THE MADNESS BEGIN!!!!!
Many thanks to “Sir Charles” Barkley for giving us his righteous and accurate description of the NBA 2016 . . . and THAT’s where we start today’s “relaxed” Frat House Saturday with Frat House Mike.
Joining the program LIVE today is Frat House Sports Analyst Nik Swartz and he provides his thoughts and impressions on the NBA and Barkley’s comments as well as responding to Mike’s contention that this is nothing more than the “disgraceful NCAA system coming home to roost for the NBA.”
Nik also gives his thoughts on the upcoming NCAA March Madness landscape, and a whole load of NFL off-season stories like Sam Bradford resigning with the Philadelphia Eagles; the Denver Broncos QB problems that may leave them with who? – “Clipboard Jesus”?; the best landing spot for Matt Forte and other free agents that will be hitting the marketing early next week.
It’s another NFL-centric Frat House Saturday but this week with a healthy dose of NBA and NCAA round-ball. You don’t want to miss it, so . . .
. . . get into another great “relaxed” Frat House Saturday coming your way at 2 p.m. ET and, what the heck, don’t be afraid to call-in: 347 – 826 – 9964
For yet ANOTHER week the NFL off-season, NHL trade deadline deals, and the “awful” NBA dominates tonight’s Frat House Sports Show sports-talk.
Before that though, the Frat House Sports “Gang” revisit the issues of sports concussions. head trauma, and CTE in light of the recent research announcement by Olympic soccer player Brandi Chastain.
There are many, MANY compelling storylines in the NFL off-season and the guys review the entire “franchise tag” list; the free agency list; overpaid players; the QB issues with the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins.
Meanwhile the NHL Trade Deadline has passed and it would seem the Anaheim Ducks, now on a 9-game winning streak were the biggest winners. We get our NHL-NBA analyst Matt DiBiase’s take. Also, “Sir Charles” Barkley referred to the NBA as “awful” and Frat House Mike concurs.
THIS is one wild program you DO NOT want to miss and MUST be listening LIVE at 7 p.m. ET . . . and, taking your calls: 347 – 826 – 9964.
