Stephen A. Smith from ESPN’s First Take responded to comments Floyd Mayweather Jr. made about him in an interview with Ben Thompson from Fighthype.com. Mayweather verbally assaulted Smith and apparently wasn’t too happy about Smith saying on a recent episode of First Take that if Mayweather doesn’t fight Manny Pacquiao next that he would publicly state on the show that he believed Mayweather was avoiding Pacquiao.
Smith stated earlier today on First Take that “Floyd knows better than that. He knows that I say what I mean and I mean what I say. And if anyone is back tracking, some would say that he is back tracking. Even if I did backtrack which I don’t believe that I do, at least I got a legitimate reason to, I work for somebody. I have to answer to somebody, that’s ESPN. You want to call that a shame then call most of the American public being shameful because they’re employed by somebody else.”

After 24 rounds of boxing with Marcos Maidana, Floyd Mayweather is still the undisputed pound-for-pound champion.
Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs) successfully defended his WBC and WBA Welterweight and WBC Super Welterweight World Championships with a unanimous 12-round decision victory in a rematch with Argentine slugger Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) on Saturday in front of 16,144 fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, live on SHOWTIME PPV®.
“Money” strategically fought the fight that he wanted, effectively avoiding the looping punches against the ropes that “El Chino” was able to land in their first bout and pivoting back to his domain – the center of the ring.
The five-division world champion was decidedly more effective and efficient, landing 58 percent of his power punches compared to Maidana’s 26 percent. The 37-year-old also landed 43 percent of his jabs compared to 17 percent for Maidana and 51 percent of his total punches compared to Maidana’s 22 percent.
Unlike their first meeting in May – a majority decision for the 11-time world champion – there was no controversy in the judges’ decisions. Judge Guido Cavalleri had the fight 115-112 while Dave Moretti and John McKaie scored it 116-111. We will with out a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people. Boxing fans, it’s that time again. With all PPVs we have seen this year, it seems to have watered down the sport, but two PPVs you can always count on, barring him being on retirement, is Floyd Mayweather fighting the 1st week in May and the 2nd week in September. This Saturday, Showtime PPV will be live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to host the rematch of Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs. Marcos “Chino” Maidana in the event that has been coined #Mayhem2. Not only is this fight for the same WBC Welterweight and WBA Super World Welterweight Titles, but the WBC has also said this will also be for the WBC Light Middleweight belt, which is weird, but another story in itself.
The now 37 year old, Floyd Mayweather, will be stepping into the ring that is practically his at this point, with an unblemished record of 46-0 with 26 KOs. He has not stopped anyone since the Victor Ortiz debacle, and legitimately hasn’t REALLY stopped anyone early since Ricky Hatton, which was pre-retirement in 2007. At this point in his career he is still one of, if not the most technically skilled fighter in the sport, but as every fight passes by, the question must be raised of when will his age catch up to him. Floyd may also be feeling this, as he has recently said that as of now, his last fight will be September of 2015, which is when his 6 fight deal with Showtime, worth approximately 240 million, runs out.We will with out a shadow of a doubt be taking live calls on air from you the voice of the people.
