Buenos Dias, people! Check out the latest episode of our infamous Mid Week in Review broadcast, airing this Wednesday at 7:30pm EST. Join Capt. Kirk and Dburt as they discuss the following issues: rapper, Jay-z and friends want you to buy a Tidal music streaming service but what about that in exchange for some (if any) social stances; South African humorist, Trevor Noah has been tapped to replace John Stewart but not without controversy; Dburt waxes about a NY Daily News piece about a woman who refuses to allow her son to visit his incarcerated father (there's a twist here folks); FLOTUS participates in the Black Girls Rock event raising questions about race and tribalism; Indiana and California bills spark a national debate between religious and marriage equality proponents; further evidence that people still want classic hip hop! rap legends, De la Soul collect more than 220K in less than 2 days from their Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign (they were asking for 110K). And lastly, we will attempt to address some of the topics that we failed to address from previous shows. Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
It's amazing that there's only 47 days, 20 hours and 40 minutes as we're draft this episode description until Avengers 2 hits the theaters, but who's counting? Welcome to the latest episode of Afronerd Radio's Grindhouse Mashup where the worlds of geekdom/blerdom, politics and current events collide and more importantly, the "uncanny" Daryll B. sits in for the show's entirety. The topics scheduled to be atomized are: Playstation's Powers TV series hit the net and the ubiquitous game consoles last week and we give our impressions; our thoughts about DMG Entertainment purchasing the film rights to Valiant Comics' intellectual properties; just what is all the hoopla over the Apple watch and can anyone below the late Steve Jobs' pay grade afford it?; a few geek incidentals to chop up (TV's Supergirl costume, Preacher casting, SHIELD, Arrow and Flash predictions, Fish Mooney exits Gotham, the Daredevil Kingpin centric trailer) ; Dburt plays devil's advocate (shocker!) regarding credit scores being used for screening job applicants; Chappie and Focus reviews; Univision host compares FLOTUS to a character in the Planet of the Apes (wow); in more #BlackLivesMatterOnlyWhenWhitesAreInvolved news-a young Oakland mother is gunned down while trying to shield her kids from gunfire and lastly, #BLACKBUFFOONERYTRUMPSWHITECRIMINALITY-Dburt notices that the NY Daily News provided a front page spread for a brutal Black girlfight in a Brooklyn McDonalds but the Mafisoso 55 kilo drug bust story was relegated to a small mention on page 10! (continue watching Empire at your own peril, folks). Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
Some of you can not wait to take any opportunity to play petty politics. I get it, you don't like Michelle Obama, She isn't Laura Bush, whatever the hell you have in mind as a FLOTUS. But let me help you with something. Everytime you post something about Mrs Obama online you become the very person the left says you are. You become the bigot, You become the racist. You become that person that is angry. You become someone that is sophmoric and childish for sure.
What you become in my opinion, is a roadblock for people like me to interface in the urban community as a Black Republican and Black conservative. I am sure yu don't think your little jokes matter, but everything any more is interrelated and interdependent. what we say online matters. The slightest posts adds to the narrative. I am sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing but I am sure it is a thing.
Bowe Bergdahl is going to be charged with desertion. It looks like the administration is one the wrong side of this one?
Why is Michelle Obama's favorite show a show about a married President having an affair?
MSNBC thinks conservatives have a problem with interracial famlies. What conservative ever gave them that idea?

Greetings to our ever vigilant and stalwart listenership! Don't forget to set your clocks and calendars for this Wednesday in order to listen to the latest installment of Afronerd Radio's Mid Week in Review show airing promptly at 7:30pm (EST). Join Dburt and Capt. Kirk as they discuss the following (mid) weekly topics: picking up where we left this past Saturday-our thoughts about a now viral street harassment video depicting a young woman being "catcalled" relentlessly; actor/game show host, Ben Stein proclaims that Pres. Obama is the "most racist racist president there has ever been in America," a Washington philanthropist and history buff pledges ro rebuild the slave quarters that were once occupied on President James Madison's Montpelier estate (c'mon Ben and Obama is the racist? Really?); a recent NCAA legal ruling will allow famed little leaguer, Mo'ne Davis to profit on her likeness; a teacher confesses to a student that her "bucket list" would include killing Black people; and lastly, in turnabout is fair play news-did FLOTUS say to Black voters that they can reward themselves with fried chicken after they vote Democratic during the mid term elections? Could a Black Conservative get away with that? Call live at 646-915-9620.
Like a bat out of hell into darkness. Knowing what I've known all along: That it's God who creates all of our tragedies. But it's the Devil who makes us care-Johnny Blaze, the Ghost Rider
The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.
We teach our kids to stay away from bad crowds. But when it comes to people that will kill you, we teach them that they have rights. Jordan Davis had a right to play music and now he’s dead. This program commentary is about this, Michelle Obama and more.
Keeping matters terse, welcome to the latest edition of Afronerd Radio's Mid Week in Review! Join Dburt and Captain Kirk this Wednesday at 7:30pm (EST) as they unravel the following topical mysteries: picking up what we failed to address from our last broadcast-the Bring Back Our Girls campaign as it relates to the vicious Nigerian kidnapping tragedy (as well as the media, FLOTUS and Ann Coulter's involvement) ; football player, Michael Sam made history last week, as the St. Louis Rams made him the 249th overall choice in the 2014 NFL draft...but not without controversy; and dovetailing off of the Sam controversy, just what is the state of Black masculinity from image to reality (can traditionalism be preserved without trampling over the rights and agenda of other protected classes?); Batman vs Superman director, Zack Snyder reveals the Batfleck suit and Batmobile via tweet; we begrudglingly discuss the latest in minstrel affairs-the Jay-Z/Solange Knowles tiff (a very brief discussion); Dburt revisits the dumbest Wheel of Fortune contestant fiasco and lastly, from the NY Times Opinion Pages, educators, writers and technologists debate whether computer coding should be included as part of the elementary school curriculum. Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
SOMEONE SHOULD have warned First Lady Michelle Obama that appearing in a Twitter photo holding up a #BringBackOurGirls sign was a bad idea. It took about 15 minutes for the picture to be Photoshopped.
Worse, it made the government of the United States look juvenile (again). As former State Department counselor Eliot Cohen wrote, America’s leaders “may be charming, bright and attractive; they may have the best of intentions; but they do not look serious. They act as though Twitter and clenched teeth or a pout could stop invasions or rescue kidnapped children in Nigeria.”
Also: Joe Biden’s son benefits from regime change in Ukraine; new climate scam; NASA mission to Europa; algorithm named to board of directors; threats from MERS and Ebola; and the Department of Agriculture wants submachine guns.

Students at a Texas chapter of Turning Point USA have launched a nationwide effort to expose the meager portions and unpalatable taste of Michelle Obama's lunch program. It's called #LunchMovement and they've been tweeting embarrassing pictures of the food. Founder, Charlie Kirk joins us today to talk about the movement.
Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?
There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.
Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.
But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!
If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!
