TEENS HOMICIDE, SUICIDE AND FIREARM DEATHS

    in Social Networking

In 2010, males ages 15 to 19 were nearly four times more likely to commit suicide, six times more likely to be victims of homicide, and eight times more likely to be involved in a firearm-related death than were females of the same age.

    IMPORTANCE

Homicide and suicide is the second and third leading causes of death, respectively, among teen’s ages 15 to 19, after unintentional injury In 2010, firearms were the instrument of death in 85 percent of teen homicides and 40 percent of teen suicides. While non-firearm injuries result in death in only one out of every 760 cases, almost one in four youth firearm injuries are fatal.

Although other teens are the perpetrators of many of the homicides of teens below age 18, two-thirds of the murderers are eighteen or older.] Gang involvement has been associated with many teen murders; in 2002, nearly three-quarters of teen homicides were attributed to gang violence. Although school-related homicides receive substantial media attention, in the 2009-10 school years they accounted for about one percent of all child homicides.

Mood disorders, such as depression, dysthymia, and bipolar disease, are major risk factors for suicide among children and adolescents. One study found that more than 90 percent of children and adolescents who committed suicide had some type of mental disorder. Stressful life events and low levels of communication with parents may also be significant risk factors. Female teens are about twice as likely to attempt suicide; however, males are much more likely to actually commit suicide.

    Firearm Safety in Your Home

    in Motivation

According to Corey Whelan a freelance writer in New York for the Examiner, statistically, in more then one third of households containing a working firearm, far more individuals, especially children, are accidentally shot. In addition to the number of children wounded or killed by firearms, women also disproportionately find themselves at the wrong end of a gun in their own homes, with a current or former romantic partner typically pulling the trigger. According to a report filed by the Washington Sate Department of Social Health Services, a child or teen is killed once every seven and a half hours with a gun, either by accident or by suicide. In 72 percent of these cases, the firearm used was housed in the victim's own residence. Join us as we discuss this issue.

The Perspective with Paige and Friends

    in Current Events

Six, Road, Sarge, Jimmy, Jim, Brian, Floyd, and others discuss and debate Barry's so-called plan for gun control in America.  Is he able to change the Second Amendment or is he just talking out of his ass?  Tune in and find out.  All opinions are welcome no matter where you stand on this issue. Put your two cents in.

The Second Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791. It reads:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The Supreme Court has now definitively held that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that weapon for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Moreover, this right applies not just to the federal government, but to states and municipalities as well.

Back II Basic Episode 443 : Commenting on the news stories of the day!!!

    in Politics Conservative

It looks like there is fraud and manufactured news and crisis all over the place. Hate crimes are seen everywhere, socialist are still lying about capitalism, and America is still funding one of the most corrupt and inept organizations in the world!

If the lamestream media and gun hating liberals across America, force us to be licensed to own and carry a weapon (firearm), shouldn't the press be made to do so also? Can the press not cause just as much damage to a person as a weapon? Doesn't the press use it's Constitutionally protected right as a weapon against the truth and destroy lives in the process? My Facebook friend Gary Demar pointed this out to me, way to go Gary!

Charlie Daniels points out that civil discourse is dead and American are afraid to exercise their 1st amendment right of Free Speech!

And finally Planned parenthood has a cartoon out that ask their male supporters to check their privilege. How about these men check their intestinal fortitude and protect the innocent life that Planned parenthood ends every day of the year!!!
