Filmmakers Vohn Regensburger, Wash Westmoreland, Richard Glatzer, and Chris Bruno talk about their new movies: A Remarkable Life and The Last of Robin Hood. Regensburger is the writer/director of the first film, which stars Bruno, who also helped with the writing and served as one of the producers. Glatzer and Westmoreland are the writers/directors of the second offering to be discussed. Film critic Mack Bates will co-host.
A Remarkable Life tells the story of a man who finds his life falling apart and is forced to examine his identity, his manhood and his sense of self. Lenny (played by Bruno) faces loss of his job, a son with Asperger's Syndrome, and a wife who's fallen in love with the son's female doctor. It's a highly entertaining film - but one that gives us a lot to think about. Director Regensburger also composed the impressive music score, just as he did for his first film, Last of the Romantics.
The Last of Robin Hood follows Errol Flynn's scandalous affair with a star-struck teenage girl. Kevin Kline plays Flynn in his later years -- not the heartthrob from The Adventures of Robin Hood. Dakota Fanning and Susan Sarandon play the young girl and her mother who enables the affair, respectively. This fascinating film deals with fame and the high price it can exact. Glatzer and Westmoreland have also written and directed Quinceanera, Pedro, The Fluffer and Grief.
THE WOLVES OF SAVIN HILL is an independent feature film, starring David Cooley, Brian Scannell, Paul Carafotes, Kurt Fuller, Jack McGee, Michael Massee, Tim deZarn, Suzanne Willard, Tiprin Mandalay, Tonya Cornelisse, Megan Davis, Marco Verdier, Jordan Van Vranken, Marco Verdier, Nicole Haddad.

On May 31, 2014, SLENDERMAN went from fictional Internet meme to household word when two 12 year-old Wisconsin girls lured a friend into the woods and stabbed her 19 times in an effort to earn the favor of the faceless, elongated, dark-suited figure. A few days later, an emotionally disturbed 13 year-old girl near Cincinnati attacked her mother with a knife in their kitchen in the guise of Slenderman.
These real life homages are all the more disturbing because the creation of the character is readily traceable to writer Eric "Victor Surge" Knudsen on the "Something Awful" Internet forum in 2009. But as the most powerful memes do, this one seeped into the very fiber of online culture to the extent that five years later young girls were willing to kill for it.
Interestingly, AMHRadio was ahead of the Slenderman Zeitgeist. On the March 11, 2014 episode with documentary filmmakers JOSH ZEMAN and RACHEL MILLS, whose urban legend films CROPSEY and KILLER LEGENDS expose the terrifying truths behind the myths, we discussed the the Slenderman meme, with Zeman uniquely declaring the character to be the very personification of the Internet.
Now Zeman and Mills return to discuss developments in the Slenderman saga and what may lie ahead.
Selling in a Skirt with Judy Hoberman with her guest Hanna Aneröd & Maura Sweeney
My name is Hanna Aneröd and I'm a filmmaker from Sweden but I film in different countries in the world. I make films together with my husband. I've discovered that we have different qualities that need to be equally used for both our relationship to work and our company to blossom. I'm developing my feminine power more and more and know this has been a piece of the puzzle missing. I've always had a big interest in women's issues and have got great knowledge while doing documentaries the last five years. I'm making several documentaries parallel that are about women. - One film, Thailand Dreams, is about Western men and Thai women and the line between love and exploitation. www.realityfilm.org
Maura Sweeney grew up in New Jersey – northern, that is and Exit 16W to be exact. I used to think I was articulate, pronouncing things like water (whaa’-tah) and coffee (kwah’-fee). I’d also reference others as “you guys” but never as “youz guys”. It wouldn’t be proper grammar for the girl voted Most Dignified in her Lyndhurst High School graduating class.
Long before Snookie and The Situation, I spent a number of very happy summers at the Jersey Shore- the brilliant sunshine, warm sand and sea air provide me with wonderful memories. At 15, I worked on the Pt. Pleasant Beach Boardwalk as a Jenkinson’s Pavilion Penny Candy girl. Literally earning pennies per hour, I was most proud to be wearing a uniform and earning my own wage!
