"Die, Angelo, Die", the 16th film (and a feature at that!) from the non-profit LGBTQ production company, POWER UP, will be filmed in Palm Springs says the organization's founder and recent transplant to the city, Stacy Codikow. "The city itself is alive and a beautiful place for sex, romance and intrigue," stated Codikow. "It lends itself to be captured in all its glory and we will do that with the support of local residents."

Jack Thomas Smith is a feature film director, writer, and producer. Nicholas Henderson is an Art Directors' Guild 'Excellence in Production Design' winning feature film art director/set designer and trained architect. Nicholas has worked within the design teams of award winning buildings, four television dramas, 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley' theme park in Orlando, Florida, ten live action features and three animated features within the UK and the United States. Between 2008 and 2010, Nicholas worked on 'Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 & 2', (both nominated for the art direction Academy Award) on which he worked as art director for the destruction of Hogwarts alongside three time Academy Award winner Stuart Craig. In addition, Nicholas won the 'Excellence in Production Design' award at the 2012 Art Directors' Guild annual awards for his work on these films. In addition, Nicholas' has designed a Philadelphia project tower block under attack from zombies in Marc Forster's thriller 'World War Z' working alongside Production Designer Nigel Phelps, the bridge interior of the 'Nostromo' spaceship in Ridley Scott's sci-fi 'Prometheus' working alongside Oscar nominated Production Designer Arthur Max, 19th century victorian London interiors in Guy Ritchie's 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows' alongside Oscar nominated Production Designer Sarah Greenwood, and a Greek Village in 'Mamma Mia' working alongside Production Designer Maria Djurkovic. Nicholas designs by hand on a drawing board and with Vectorworks CAD for 2D set drawings and with Autodesk Maya for all digital environments.Since 2012, Nicholas has worked as an in-house visual development artist at Dreamworks Animation in San Francisco, California working in the world of animated films. Vijay Mallampati, from Global Peace Creators, is a producer of the film Namo Adi Shankara which was recently released in the United States in Hindi. It is a feature film originally made in Telugu by Producers Nara Jayasridevi and Vijay Mallampati from Global Peace Creators. The film, directed by South Indian Veteran Writer/Director J K Baravi, is now releasing in its Hindi dubbed version. It’s well known cast includes Nagarjuna as Chandala, Kaushik Babu as Adi Shankara, Chiranjeevi as Lord Shiva, Kaamna Jethmalani and introducing Sriramchandra from Indian Idol fame.
The film depicts the life history of Jagadguru Adi Shankara, filmed in the Kaladi village of his childhood. It shows how he convinces his mother to allow him to take Sainthood at an early age in his life, his travel to the Himalayas, learning Siddhis from his first guru, and later taking the Sanyasa from his second guru. Based on his Guru's teachings, he simplifies the explanation of Advaita and spreads the same across India. Finally, he is declared as a Jagadguru in the climax when he announces four branches of Shankara muths and before leaving this abode for his next journey after life. Jeff Gendelman, writer and producer, wrote and produced The Surface, an 18-year journey of perseverance from idea to production. The film stars Sean Astin, Chris Mulkey and Mimi Rogers and was directed by Gil Cates Jr. Jeff also produced and directed the award-winning short film, In Passing. He produced the Los Angeles world premiere of the play, The Letter Writer, and then developed it to be made into a film. He produced and directed two science documentaries, and a pilot for a syndicated TV series. As an actor, Jeff co-starred with Christopher Lambert in the feature film, Splitsville. He had a supporting role opposite Robert Forster and Donnie Wahlberg in the feature film, Diamond Men. His TV work includes guest-starring roles on NBC’s Law and Order and he was featured on Beverly Hills 90210. Jeff was also a series regular on the television dramas One Life to Live, Guiding Light and Loving (nominated for Outstanding Actor in a daytime TV series). He studied in film classes at the American Film Institute (Los Angeles), New YorkUniversity, USC, and at the BBC (London). Jeff has also been involved with the theater since age 10. After graduating from the University of Minnesota he went to train in the American Conservatory Theater Advanced Actor Program in San Francisco. He has acted and directed at theaters throughout the United States and Japan, including Old Globe Shakespeare Company (San Diego), Milwaukee Repertory, Mark Taper Forum (Los Angeles), and Riverside Shakespeare Company (New York City). LaRoyce Hawkins stars as Officer Kevin Atwater on NBC's new police drama "Chicago P.D."
Hawkins, who first originated the role in "Chicago Fire," is an accomplished standup comic, spoken-word artist and musician. He had a role in the feature film "The Express," which chronicled the life of Ernie Davis - the first African American to win college football's coveted Heisman Award.
On the television side, Hawkins has appeared on MTV's "Underemployed," ABC's drama, "Detroit 187," and the TBS comedy, "Tyler Perry's House of Payne."
He has appeared on stage in "By the Way, Meet Vera Stark" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, "Hoodoo Love" at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago, "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" and other legit productions.
Hawkins holds a BFA in acting from Illinois State University.

A new conversation about comic book heroes and villains in the world of film. With all these feature films being made by comic book heavy hitters like Marvel and DC, how could we not revisit why these movies are so popular; and controversial. The panelist for this discussion have a lot to say about the matter. So come a long for the ride, and maybe tell us what you think!
* The writer, director, producer, cast, or theme of the short must be diverse, either: ethnically, culturally, or of a diverse voice or community.
* Short films must be submitted under one of the following genres: Comedy, Drama, Horror, or Sci-Fi.
* Submitting parties must hold complete rights and ownership of submitted product.
* Only original works are accepted. Submissions may not be based, in whole or in part, on material, fictional or nonfiction, produced or un-produced, published or unpublished, unless such material was originally created and published/produced by the applicant, in another medium.
* Films with prior commercial distribution or broadcast within the US are NOT eligible to submit. In the case of small non-commercial, non-publicized showings, the committee reserves the right to waive this rule.
* Shorts must run between 2-20 minutes in length.
* If selected to screen in New York in August, semi-finalists must provide their shorts in one of the following formats: DCP, HDCam (regular not SR) or QuickTime Pro Res 422.
* No revisions or updated versions will be accepted beyond the initial submission.
* An applicant may submit multiple separate entries.
* There is NO FEE for submitting a film to this festival.
* All entries must be received by June 8, 2014.
* Withoutabox profiles will be noted with a confirmation of receipt within one week of arrival.
* In mid-July, semi-finalists will be determined and notified, and announced.
* In August, a semi-finalist screening will take place in New York City. Television & Film makers are responsible for their own travel & accommodations should they choose to RSVP & attend this event.
