On February 8th, 1963, under the leadership of President John F. Kennedy, the United States severed all ties with the nation of Cuba. Up until that point citizens of Cuba had access to purchasing American goods of all types, including motorcycles. After this travel ban was instituted, these citizens no longer had direct access to parts and accessories to keep these American motorcycles running. Thus began decades of shade-tree wrenching and innovation like none other. The island of Cuba was essentially stuck in time, with its citizens continuing to operate these historic vehicles for more than 50 years. With the recent talk of the United States Government moving to relieve the long-standing embargo, our special guests took the opportunity to visit the island nation and see for themselves what the motorcycle culture was like. The chance to see these antique machines in daily operation and use is for many, the chance of a lifetime. Essentially our special guests Joe Sparrow and Kevin Bean’re took a step back into time and documented the daily life for the legendary motorcyclists of Cuba.
When it comes to high fashion fur there is one woman who is creating quite a rage and setting the scene ablaze and her name is Pamela M. Paquin. The company she founded Petite Mort has legitimized the phrase “ethical fur” and is simultaneously revolutionizing the fur industry with American road kill. That’s correct, and what could have been merely animals who were simply the casualties of the nation’s roadways are ending up as fur accessories for wearers all over America.
Paquin has worn many hats and one of them has been as a business entrepreneur who has a penchant for fighting resource misuse as a world renowned global sustainability expert. But her new life as a fur fashion firm president began after leaving Copenhagen, Denmark to return to America as a single mother and pursued a business dream to build a new life for her daughter and herself.
The fashion fur dream of road kill couture is also a story of a woman who struggled as millions of single mothers do, and the pathway she took that serves as an example for others. On Standing at Freedom’s Gate join Pamela M. Paquin, President of Petite Mort, who she uses her courage, conviction and Native American heritage in a business that PETA should not find fault with.
Also on the show will be Susan Swift Arnall, who has been a noted actor, attorney, businesswoman, and writer who is running for Glendale Community College (GCC) Board of Trustees. See how she explains why a conservative leader can and will make a difference in California higher education.
