Beginning before Prop. 215 and overcoming daunting legal obstacles including a DEA raid in 2002, The Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana (WAMM),the collective that gives us all a good name, may have to close their storied farm. The collective, considered to be the gold-standard of just what a medical marijuana collective is suppose be, provides medicinal marijuana to its 850 members at low- or zero-cost, depending on need and ability to donate.
The collective is in danger of losing all their land due to financial problems resulting from the separation and recent divorce of the two founders Valerie and Michael Corral. Mike is moving on to other pursuits but Valerie is determined to keep the famed collective going. As the show’s first guest, Valerie will discuss the history of WAMM, how the collective arrived at its present situation and what is being done to keep the collective open, serving its members and making us all look good.
One of the most vexing problems encountered by people who use marijuana that is legal medically and/or recreationally where they live, is that they can lose their job for doing what is legal. The show’s second guest, William Panzer, a celebrated marijuana attorney from Oakland, will provide an overview of employment law as it applies to people using legal marijuana and the ability of employers to fire someone over its use and what you can do to protect yourself.
Mr. Panzer has been practicing law for over 25 years specializing in cannabis related cases. He serves on NORML’s Legal Committee and was presented NORML’s prestigious Al Horn award as well Sonoma Alliance for Medical Marijuana’s “Compassion In Action” Award twice and was named High Times Magazine “Freedom Fighter of the Month” in June 2002.
