After graduating with her masters in May of 2014, she was hired on as a full-time criticality safety analyst at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Our guest today, Chuck Blakeman, has built several businesses, and he now uses his experience to help other business owners and leaders build Participation Age companies. Join us to find out why you should strive to build a Participation Age company, and why employees are ALWAYS a bad idea. Chuck’s first book, Making Money Is Killing Your Business, was rated the #1 business book of 2010 by the National Federation of Independent Businesses. He also appears frequently in print and online, including the Harvard Business Review, Entrepreneur Magazine, CNNMoney.com, and the NYTimes.com. He was also quoted in Stephen Covey’s final book, The 3rd Alternative. Today he’s here to talk about his new book, "Why Employees Are ALWAYS a Bad Idea".
Congress has made ERISA Legislation which provides unfair advantages for Corporations. In fact, there is no recourse in the law which provides compensation for Employers holding back benefits just because they can. Most Employees are a single paycheck away from losing everything. Unfair legislation such as this encourages taking advantage of workers instead of treating them with respect and dignity.
Join me, ESTRA today in talking about why ERISA Hurts Employees.
The numbers are grim. No matter what report you look at, the picture of retirement for U.S. workers is not pretty. Let's put it this way: There's no beach and umbrella drink. Instead, there are plans to recover from the Great Recession, plans to continue working, plans to ratchet back one's lifestyle. Join us as we talk with Laurie Rowley, the co-founder and president of The National Association of Retirement Plan Participants (NARPP) to find out how we got here and what employers can do to help their employees be better prepared.
NARPP is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for individual savers. Using research, partnerships, and innovative educational programs, NARPP is making financial information transparent and universally accessible to the 145 million working Americans saving for retirement.
In this episode of Cutting-Edge Benefits by ClaimLinx, Tom Quigley, National Business Consultant, will be discussing people's shifting priorities when looking for employment.
Because of the Great Recession, people are more cautious about the future and crave a sense of security through complete benefits packages. More and more, potential workers will be looking at companies' benefits packages to make employment decisions. Owners will need to use unique solutions to ensure they are providing the very best benefits possible in order to be competetive in the workplace.
So in this episdoe, Tom will be taking a look at employees' priorities and how employers can provide them while still remaining within their budget. Schedule a personal consultation to discuss healthcare solutions at any time.

The Affordable Care Act just celebrated its 5th anniversary. While some of the businesses out there talk about cutting employee benefits to save money, this one is not. Bittersweet Cafe, a local hangout in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia, is a different kind of business. They love full-time employees and happily provide them employee benefits. To be good to be true?
Listen to our conversation with Jody Manor, owner of Bittersweet, who believes that "Healthcare is a basic human right."

We have our first Democratic nomination...Hilary Clinton. I don't think this was such a big surprise. What was her first political move; making the case for CEO pay vs middle class pay. She goes to Chipolte and forgets to leave a tip. I have heard all the arguments that Chipolte is not the kind of place where you leave a tip. Neither is Subway but if they have a tip jar I leave a tip. Since she is championing the middle class and better pay you would think leaving a tip would have been the first thing she would have done. I can't believe that no one in her camp bothered to do it or even mention it to her to do. I have been told that politics is more about public perception than the actual platform. We have a CEO in Seattle who has decided to take a pay cut so his employees can receive better pay. I don't have a problem since it is his company and he wants to provide an incentive to maintain his good employees but it sends the wrong idea to minimum wage workers who think they are worth more than their skills indicate. There have been other police involved shootings and people are marching for justice. You know how I feel about that but there are a few instances where I can see it being justified.
