The latest on the border crisis and whether Congress will get a bill thru before their upcoming month long August recess.
The Court said the four words in the law that mean what they say are: "established by the state":
If you bought insurance from an exchange NOT established by the state, then you aren't entitled to a federal subsidy.
36 states refused to set up state exchanges. However the IRS made a ruling that every exchange can offer a subsidy...Not just those "established by the state"
4.6 M Americans receive subsidies. Two of largest states That dole out OBamaCare subsidies are FL and TX. The Average subsidy is $269 per month going to OBamaCare recipients who signed up for insurance to help pay their premium. The obvious assumption is that Without the subsidy from the Feds people wouldn't have signed up. Health care would be too expensive, so they would have just paid the fine for not having insurance which is set at $95 first yr.

A special broadcast this week on CBR Radio as we go off topic for this very special night of America’s history. We step back into the past and focus our attention on America’s Unknown Fairy Godmother: Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson Hearst .We discuss her life and her achievements and contributions she left behind to her fellow Americans to benefit from nearly 100 years later. My special guest Karin Harris highlights the footsteps of Phoebe Hearst her triumphs and her tribulations and the quiet legacy she left behind.
Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson at the age of 19, she married George Hearst, who later became a U.S. Senator. Soon after their marriage on June 15, 1862, the couple moved to San Francisco,California, where Phoebe gave birth to their only child, William Randolph Hearst, on April 29, 1863. Upon George’s death on February 28, 1891, her wealth was estimated at $250 million, a staggering sum in those days. SHOW NOTES: Wealth is relative. If a person has more resources (or appears to have more resources) than other peers, it tends to make them feel wealthy. If a person has less resources (or appears to have less resources) than peers, they feel poor.
- “On average, 90 percent of lottery winners go through their winnings in five years or less.” (http://bucks.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/12/03/a-financial-plan-for-misbehaving-lottery-winners/?_php=true&_&_r=0)
How does someone receive tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of dollars and end up broke within five years? It is a very simple answer, they spent the money.
So, taking even an extremely rare occurrence where someone overnight “gets rich” (by winning the lottery) it is harder to stay rich than it was to get rich. Join in with this show as we discuss why we (humans) make it so hard for ourselves to enjoy resources long term and instead give them away in the short term. Desires for attention, affection, admiration and power are the keys to your ability to either beat the odds (and have a lifetime of economic comfort) or end up broke (with memories of fleeting times in the past when there was an opportunity to stay rich). They say it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Maybe. I do not agree that it is better to have been “rich” and lost it all than to have never been “rich” at all. It is very difficult to “go back” to economic instability and lack of opportunity after experiencing a lifestyle of economic opportunity.
So, let’s make sure that you have a plan to go forward financially and never go back!

SHOW NOTES: What is a Stereotype?"Stereotypes are widely held cultural beliefs that are resistant to change."
(Block, Koch, Liberman, Merriweather, & Roberson, 2011)
What is Stereotype Threat?
“The phenomenon known as “stereotype threat.” Members of groups believed to be academically inferior — African-American and Latino students enrolled in college, or female students in math and science courses — score much lower on tests when reminded beforehand of their race or gender. […] found that black students performed comparably with white students when told that the test they were taking was “a laboratory problem-solving task.” Black students scored much lower, however, when they were instructed that the test was meant to measure their intellectual ability. In effect, the prospect of social evaluation suppressed these students’ intelligence.”
Minorities aren’t the only ones vulnerable to stereotype threat. We all are. A group of people notably confident about their mathematical abilities — white male math and engineering majors who received high scores on the math portion of the SAT — did worse on a math test when told that the experiment was intended to investigate “why Asians appear to outperform other students on tests of math ability.” (PAUL, 2012)
