Ep. 1 - 1 on 1 with Giants QB Eli Manning

    in Sports

NY Giants QB Eli Manning is in his 9th year as host of the Guiding Eyes for the Blind Golf Classic. I have been honored to be the emcee for the event for nearly a decade as well.

We caught up and talked about his connection to this fascinating charity.  While we were talking, news broke over Twitter that Patriots QB Tom Brady, who is 0-2 against Manning in the Super Bowl, was being suspended for 4 games due to his involvement in "deflategate."  Manning was professional in addressing his QB rival, but did offer unique insight on his experience this off-season trying out balls that had been deflated, and gives his opinion on the possible advantage.

On the 1st "From the Press Box" episode, we will hear my exclusive chat with Eli, & then his media interview right after news broke.

The Frat House Sports Show #206

    in Sports

The NFL sure has seen some excitement so far: suspensions, appeals, practice-field & locker-room fights, highlight plays & some devastating injuries...and we're just going into the second week of preseason ! Get in the "House" this Thursday evening as the fellas discuss what's hot, who's shot, & what you knew (or forgot) heading into weekend 2.

The guys also welcome in special guest Tony Sciarratta, columnist for GMenHQ.com, to break down how the NY Giants will handle the pending contract extension for franchise QB Eli Manning, whether the "G-men" will really be a force in the NFCE (apart from Cruz & Beckham, Jr how many other weapons does the team have?), and how does JPP's absence affect the team (or not)?

In other conversation, the guys wonder: What is the value of 4 preseason games? Between Brady & Roger, who holds the best cards if Judge Berman goes "all-in" on a decision? What should be made of the Geno Smith incident and should NY Jets' fans be happier without him? Caleb will offer up valuable "Frankly Fantasy" advice, while Matt will bring 5 things you need to know from the NHL.

Yep, it's getting REAL and you want to be here with the Frat House Sports crew (FratHouse Mike, Sidekick & Brandon) this Thursday evening beginning at 7 pm (edt). They're taking your calls and opinions as well at: 347-826-9964.

NFC East - NFL Preview; Does the division title still go through Dallas?

    in Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles finished 10-6, in 2014.  Leaving them on the outside looking in, when the playoffs started. Chip Kelly made and interesting move, trading away LeSean McCoy.  In return, the Eagles received Kiko Alonso.  He missed all of the 2014 season, with a torn ACL.  The Eagles also released Trent Cole and Cary Williams, in a salary cap move. Then they signed free agent running back DeMarco Murray.  At quarterback, the Eagles devised a trade for often injured Sam Bradford.  Nick Foles, who is recovering from a broken collarbone, head to St. Louis.  Many moves in the off-season, equals many questions for the Eagles.

The Dallas Cowboys lost running back free agent DeMarco Murray, in free agency.  However, they have one of the best offensive lines.  The signed Oakland Raider free agent Darren McFadden, who has had his share of injuries.  In the preseason, he has already been battling a hamstring injury.  The passing combination of Tony Romo to Dez Bryant, will remain intact.  However, the question is how much did the running game help Romo last year.

Washington is trying to figure out the quarterback situation.  All indications are that Robert Griffen III will get another shot.  He has started both pre-season games.  On the other side, they need to stop people.  As a unit, they allowed 27.4 points per game, in 2014.  This ranked 29th, in the NFL.  Jay Gruden needs to find some answers, on both sides of the ball.

Eli Manning has not lead the New York Giants to the playoffs, in three years.  However, he wants to be the highest paid quarterback.  Is that a distraction needed before the season? The Giants were 13th in scoring, but had some inconsistent play defensively.  No matter what contract Manning has, they need to find people to protect him.  It could be another long year in New York.

"Fantasy Freeway" ~ In a pass happy NFL, which quarterbacks are best value

    in Sports

The NFL is in a pass oriented stage, which means that quarterbacks can give you big points.  As a whole, the average passing yards per game, in the NFL was 251.76. In the past, when a quarterback put 300 yards on the stat sheet, it usually meant that his team was playing from behind.  Now, a 300 yard passing day consitutes an elite passing attack.

According to ESPN, the top five quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees.  The 2015 prediction, is a mirror image of how these players ended the 2014 NFL campaign.  The only change is that they moved Drew Brees ahead of Ben Roethlisberger.  Any of these quarterbacks would be a good selection, in your draft.  If they are not available when you pick, is there a solid second tier of quarterbacks?

Each of the quarterbacks mentioned above, had over 300 fantasy points.  The second tier would include those who accumulated 250-299 fantasy points.  This group included 10 quarterbacks. Which of these quarterbacks can move into that 300 plus range, in 2015?  Will Matt Ryan find a groove with Julio Jones? Can Ryan Tannehill keep progressing? Is Tom Brady worth drafting, depending on his suspension? Will Eli Manning prove to the world that his comments about being the highest paid QB are warrented? Does the loss of Demarco Murray effect Tony Romo's numbers? Can a healthy running game allow Philip Rivers to put up monster numbers? After addressing the wide receiver position, will Baltimore's Joe Flacco have better stats? Can Matthew Stafford cut down on his interceptions?

We answer all these questions and more on tonights episode.  Listen in and call the show with your thoughts.
