    "THE HEALTH REFORM MONDAY NIGHT TALK"

    in Christianity

    Through successive ages of darkness, in the midnight of heathenism, God permitted men to try the experiment of finding out God by their own wisdom, not to demonstrate their inability to his satisfaction, but that men themselves might see that they could not obtain a knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ his Son, save through the revelation of his word by the Holy Spirit. When Christ came to the world, the experiment had been fully tried, and the result made it evident that the world by wisdom knew not God. Even in the church God has allowed men to test their own wisdom in this matter, but when a crisis has been brought about through human fallibility, God has risen mightily to defend his people. When the church has been brought low, when trial and oppression have come upon his people, he more abundantly exalted them by signal deliverance. When unfaithful teachers came among the people, weakness followed, and the faith of God’s people seemed to wane; but God arose and purged his floor, and the tried and true were lifted up. – {CE 94.2}
    There are times when apostasy comes into the ranks, when piety is left out of the heart by those who should have kept step with their divine Leader. The people of God separate from the source of their strength, and pride, vanity, extravagance, and display follow. There are idols within and idols without; but God sends the Comforter as a reprover of sin, that his people may be warned of their apostasy and rebuked for their backsliding. When the more precious manifestations of his love shall be gratefully acknowledged and appreciated, the Lord will pour in the balm of comfort and the oil of joy. – {CE 95.1}
    When men are led to realize that their human calculations come far short, and are convinced that their wisdom is but foolishness, then it is that they turn to the Lord to seek him with all the heart, that they may find him. – {CE 95.2}

  • Peach State Politics by Ponytail Patriot

    in Politics

    We are down to just three legislative days in the Georgia General Assembly. Medical Marijuana has passed both chambers and is on its way to the Governor's desk to be signed into law. Criminal Justice Reform also has cleared both chambers. But HB 310 and SB 94 are bad for Liberty and create another level of bureaucracy in the criminal justice system. Meanwhile, RFRA is still being debated in committee and Governor Deal is threatening a "special session" if the Senate and House don't come to an agreement that the Governor can live with regarding the transportation bill. Of course, through all of that, there is still plenty of shenanigans to be found in Douglas County regarding Foxhall and in Paulding County regarding the background checks kerfuffle. Join us as we discuss all of this and more. As usual, we'll have music by Liberty minded artists to keep us upbeat and motivated. See y'all there

    World Wide Africa The Voice of The Pan African Movement

    in Politics

    The voice of our fallen brothers and sisters cry out to me, this week I have to share with you, The experience of Soweto Uprising, its effects on us today. I would like you to call in and share your memories of this man and his words, Steve Bantu Beko "Briefly defined therefore, Black Consciousness is in essence the realization by the black man of the need to rally together with his brothers around the cause of their oppression - the blackness of their skin - and to operate as a group in order to rid themselves of the shackles that bind them to perpetual servitude. It seeks to demonstrate the lie that black is an aberration from the "normal" which is white. It is a manifestation of a new realization that by seeking to run away from themselves and to emulate the white man, black(s) are insulting the intelligence of whoever created them black. Black Consciousness, therefore takes cognizance of the deliberateness of the God's plan in creating black people black.  It seeks to infuse the black community with a new-found pride in themselves, their efforts, their value systems, their culture, their religion and their outlook to (of) life. The interrelationship between the consciousness of the self and the emancipatory program is of a paramount importance.Blacks no longer seek to reform the system because so doing implies acceptance of the major points around which the system revolves. Blacks are out to completely transform the system and to make of it what they wish."

    Liberating Low Income through School Choice

    in Moms and Family

     Education is clearly a necessary path for children caught in the web of poverty and despair. The fact that there is failing schools means we have failed as the guardians of this generation to offer them vision and opportunity. Tonight we will hear a dynamic 15 minutes by Marquette professor Howard Fuller. There is an African Proverb which states, "It takes a whole village to raise a child" I would add provided the village values their children.

    Negotiation Trends for School Districts in 2015

    in Education

    One of the key responsibilities of a school board member is negotiating the contract for teachers and staff.  It is, by far, the place where most of the district’s financial resources are allocated; as well it establishes other protocols which affect student achievement.  Each year brings new challenges.  In 2015, what are those challenges?  How should boards approach the Chapter 78 health benefit reform legislation?  What is the importance of average settlement rates?  How long can a district expect negotiations to take?  What are some common misperceptions the public has about negotiations?  Please join host Ray Pinney as he discusses these and other issues with Patrick Duncan, Manager of NJSBA Labor Relations Department.
