Special Guest EFT Master Ann Adams Presents The EFT Flowchart

    in Self Help

One of the best tools for EFT that I've seen in a long time is Ann Adams' Flow Chart, which is extremely helpful for EFT Practitioners of all levels. Ann is a Trainer of Trainers for AAMET, an LCSW, EFT-Cert-Honors, ACP-EFT, and a DCEP consultant with ACEP.

Using the flow chart, you start with your presenting issue and move through the application of EFT, whether you are tapping for an event, an emotion, or a physical symptom. Using SUDS Levels after each round, you are shown where to go next. You are guided in the selection of various EFT Techniques, based on 3 different SUDS outcomes.

One of the benefits of using the Flow Chart is that you avoid the tendency to use certain techniques too soon, such as using reframes or choices before you or your client are ready.

Ann has SO much experience teaching EFT, and she is offering the Flow Chart to our listeners for FREE. Please join us, and with Ann's expert teaching, you will be well-versed on how to achieve a SUDS Level of "0" with ease.

The Half Has Never Been Told with Edward E. Baptist, Ph.D.

    in History

The Half Has Never Been Told: Slavery and the Making of American Capitalism

Historian Edward E. Baptist reveals in The Half Has Never Been Told, the expansion of slavery in the first eight decades after American independence drove the evolution and modernization of the United States. In the span of a single lifetime, the South grew from a narrow coastal strip of worn-out tobacco plantations to a continental cotton empire, and the United States grew into a modern, industrial, and capitalist economy. Until the Civil War, Baptist explains, the most important American economic innovations were ways to make slavery ever more profitable. Through forced migration and torture, slave owners extracted continual increases in efficiency from enslaved African Americans. Thus the United States seized control of the world market for cotton, the key raw material of the Industrial Revolution, and became a wealthy nation with global influence.

Told through intimate slave narratives, plantation records, newspapers, and the words of politicians, entrepreneurs, and escaped slaves, The Half Has Never Been Told offers a radical new interpretation of American history. It forces readers to reckon with the violence at the root of American supremacy, but also with the survival and resistance that brought about slavery’s end—and created a culture that sustains America’s deepest dreams of freedom.

Edward E. Baptist is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and House Professor and Dean at the Carl Becker House at Cornell University.

  • Helen Weng: The Science of Compassion

    in Relationships

Compassion is a key motivator of altruistic behavior, but little is known about individuals’ capacity to cultivate compassion through training.

Now, through a recent scientific study, we've learned that it's possible to become a more compassionate person by training your brain.

Researchers from the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconson-Madison's Waisman Center found that engaging in compassion meditation -- where you practice feeling compassion for different groups of people, including yourself -- seemed to increase a sense of altruism.

"It's kind of like weight training," study researcher Helen Weng, a graduate student in clinical psychology at the university, said in a statement. "Using this systematic approach, we found that people can actually build up their compassion 'muscle' and respond to others' suffering with care and a desire to help."

Helen Weng is our guest this week on the Voice of Leadership, sharing more about this study and our ability to become more compassionate human beings.
