Purpose of the Preacher (Ecclesiastes 12:9-14)

    in Christianity

    TEXTS

In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out and arranged many proverbs. The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly.

The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of these collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd. But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body.

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.

    THEMES

God, as shepherd. The image of God as a shepherd points to his continual direction, guidance and care for his people. Shepherd as a title for God. God’s people are his flock. Israel is God’s flock. The church is God’s flock. The tasks undertaken by God the shepherd.

The shepherd leads and guides. The shepherd provides. The shepherd protects. The shepherd saves those who are lost or scattered. The shepherd judges. God gives shepherds to be leaders over his people. He gives David’s line. He gives individual leaders. He gives faithful leaders.

God, wisdom of. Scripture declares that God alone is wise and discerning, and that human wisdom is often unable or unwilling to understand his ways. God’s wisdom is expressed in both creation and redemption. God’s wisdom described. God’s wisdom is beyond measure. God’s wisdom is profound. God’s wisdom is superior to human wisdom. God’s wisdom exhibited. God’s wisdom in creation.

God’s wisdom as an agent in creation. Wisdom here is given personality, and may refer to the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ. God’s wisdom in historical events. God’s wisdom in knowing the human...

Sunday Morning Reflections: Nothing New Under The Sun.

    in Spirituality

"What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun."  Ecclesiastes 1: 9

We tend to think of our current age as being brand new in the history of humanity...but is it really?  Is there a wider cycle of civilization which, if known, would make our present accomplishments look like "De Ja Vu all over again?"  A reflection on Ecclesiastes 1 and the cycle of world history as it may have been playing out for hundreds of thousands of years.

Ecclesiastes...Quantum Physics...Live....Take Joy In The Moment

    in Blogs

I have to do this. I do not have all the answers but I am getting some very powerful ones and the only way for it to continue to be manifested is if I record the journey. I know there is salvation in Christ. I believe with my whole heart that we each have a part to play in that. I believe in the literal love of God and that it is the power by which all things are manifest. I also believe that God guides our path much more than we give any awareness or acknowledgement to. This is my testimony. This is my journey.
