She is the editor and publisher of the NAACP Image Award nominated (in Outstanding Literary Work – Poetry) anthology, Check the Rhyme: An Anthology of Female Poets & Emcees (July 2006), featuring the work of fifty internationally/nationally known women poets.     Interview with New York CEO - DuEwa Frazier, Author, Poet, Speaker and Writer

    DuEwa Frazier is a poet, writer, performance artist, speaker, educator and cultural organizer from St. Louis. She is the author of two published volumes of poetry: Shedding Light From My Journeys (2002) and Stardust Tracks on a Road (2005). DuEwa is the Founder and CEO of Lit Noire Publishing, a creative arts and publishing organization. She is the editor and publisher of the NAACP Image Award nominated anthology, CHECK THE RHYME: AN ANTHOLOGY OF FEMALE POETS & EMCEES. CHECK THE RHYME received Honorable Mention for the 2010 Writer's Digest International Self Publishing Awards. DuEwa has produced numerous arts events in the New York City area and other locations.

    DuEwa's writings have featured in Essence Magazine, PW Review, Drumvoices Revue, Mosaic, Poetry Ink Anthology, Poetry in Performance, and others. She has been profiled in several publications including The St. Louis American, The St. Louis Argus, Booking Matters, The Ave Magazine, Rolling Out Urbanstyle Weekly and others.

    As an author, performing poet and speaker DuEwa has featured at numerous arts venues, colleges, festivals, and conferences including. She earned the B.A. in English at Hampton University, the M.S.Ed. in Curriculum & Teaching (Literacy) and is an M.F.A. Candidate in Creative Writing at The New School. DuEwa has written curriculum for secondary students and has taught in the areas of English, Theater Arts and GED preparation. She resides in New York.

    Interview with Poet and Founder of WWBPS, JP Howard

    JP Howard aka Juliet P. Howard is the author of SAY/MIRROR (The Operating System, 2015), a Cave Canem graduate fellow and a member of The Hot Poets Collective. She curates Women Writers in Bloom Poetry Salon (WWBPS), a forum for women writers to come together in a positive and supportive space. JP is an alum of the VONA/Voices Writers Workshop, a Lambda Literary Foundation Emerging LGBT Voices Fellow and a 2011 Cave Canem Fellow-in-Residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She was a Lesbian Writers’ Fund (poetry) finalist from Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice.


     


    Her poetry has been widely published, including in Nepantla: A Journal for Queer Poets of Color, Adrienne A Poetry Journal of Queer Women (Sibling Rivalry Press), The Wide Shore A Journal of Global Women's Poetry, The Best American Poetry Blog, The Mom Egg, African Voices Magazine, Kweli Journal, Talking Writing, Muzzle Magazine, Connotation Press and Cave Canem Anthology XII: Poems 2008-2009. JP holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the City College of NY and a BA from Barnard College. JP was awarded a Brooklyn Arts Council Community Arts Fund Grant in 2014.     Tonight- Michigan's 2014 lame duck legislative session ended last week with two bills passing in the senate that pave the way for industrial hemp research in the state. The industrial hemp bills are now awaiting action from the Governor. The 2014 legislative session also ended without two  patient friendly medical marijuana bills being brought up for a vote on the senate floor.
