DuEwa Frazier, a writer, author, educator, and award-nominated poet was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. The author of the newly released young adult novel, Deanne in the Middle (2014), DuEwa is also the author of Goddess Under the Bridge: Poems(2013), Ten Marbles and a Bag to Put Them In: Poems for Children (2010), Stardust Tracks on a Road (2005), and Shedding Light From My Journeys (2002). She is the editor/publisher of the NAACP Image Award nominated (in Outstanding Literary Work, Poetry) anthology, Check the Rhyme: An Anthology of Female Poets and Emcees (July 2006), featuring the work of 50 internationally and nationally known women poets.
Check the Rhyme also received nominations from Writers Digest Publishing Award and African American Literary Award Show. She founded Lit Noire Publishing in 2002 and has produced numerous literary and performance events featuring poets, authors, and musicians across New York City,Baltimore, Atlanta, Berkeley, and Philadelphia.
DuEwa has been called a “gifted” poet. Her poetry has been published in Essence Magazine, Reverie Journal, Kweli Journal, Tidal Basin Review, Poetry In Performance, Drumvoices Revue, Black Arts Quarterly, X Magazine and other publications. In 2005 she featured in the documentary film “Rhyme and Reason.”
Writer, poet, and educator DuEwa Frazier draws from her life as a writer, work with youth as an educator and perspective as a woman who grew up learning from people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
DuEwa has been a featured author, speaker and educator at colleges, schools, writers conferences and arts panels. She is the author of the poetry volume, Goddess Under the Bridge (2013), a collection of children's poetry titled Ten Marbles and a Bag to Put Them In: Poems for Children (2010), the poetry volumes Stardust Tracks on a Road (2005), and Shedding Light From My Journeys (2002). As an author, performing poet and speaker DuEwa has featured at numerous arts venues, colleges, festivals, and conferences including. She earned the B.A. in English at Hampton University, the M.S.Ed. in Curriculum & Teaching (Literacy) and is an M.F.A. Candidate in Creative Writing at The New School. DuEwa has written curriculum for secondary students and has taught in the areas of English, Theater Arts and GED preparation. She resides in New York.

Our guest will be Dr. Carrie Frazier. She has been working on a boys and girls program, ages 8 to 15, entitled RUAH. It is sponsored by the First A.M.E. Community Church, located off of Willow Pass Road in Bay Point, right next to our own Pittsburg, CA. It is a 16 weeks, Life Skills Training Program which began October 10, 2014 running through January 23, 2015 with an aim of teaching our youngsters. She will take us through the mechanisms of the Culturally Specific Framework program designed to enlighten our young folk. I think you will be pleased to learn that first, such a program exist, right here in our community and secondly, learn how to implement such a program in your local area. It's about our youth folks, so join us to find out what you don't hear on the evening news?
