RICHMOND (July 1, 2013) – On Saturday, July 13, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Dress for Success Central Virginia will open the doors of its boutique, located at 321 N. Boulevard, Richmond, VA for “Shop for Success.” This event allows shoppers the opportunity to purchased high end designer apparel at reduced prices. The proceeds from this event will benefit Dress for Success Central Virginia.
The purpose of “Shop for Success” is to reduce current inventory and make room for new clothing. New and like-new designer clothing and professional attire will be available for significantly reduced prices. In addition, purses, jewelry, and other accessories will also be available. Both, cash or credit cards will be accepted as payment.
Proceeds of Shop for Success will benefit Dress for Success Central Virginia and its efforts to provide professional clothing and a network of support to disadvantaged women.
Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. To date, Dress for Success has helped more than 700,000 women worldwide work towards self-sufficiency. Mónica Méndez, PhD, just began her tenure as the Executive Director of Dress for Success Pittsburgh after moving from Orlando, Florida, where she was the co-Founder and CEO of the House of Mentoring and Empowerment (HOME), an organization advocating for young survivors of human trafficking. Passionate about empowering women and bringing the topic of gendered violence to the public sphere, she brings twelve years of experience in program creation and implementation, training and advocacy to her new endeavor. She has published and presented her work in both national and international forums and in front of a wide variety of audiences.
Dr. Méndez brings her experience, background and accomplishments to Dress for Success Pittsburgh to advance the economic empowerment of women. She recognizes that women who have job stability provide family stability which then translates to community stability. Her goal is to make Pittsburgh a stronger, healthier community by promoting the financial and social empowerment that women need in order to break the cycle of poverty.

Sun City Country Club(SCCC), managed by Tom Loegering, is a non-profit corporation which has consistently supported the Peoria community. For example, a new, free Golf Program in Schools(GPS) was recently instituted at Peoria High School, which had 73 freshman students introduced to the game of golf. Over the next two years, all of approximately 3300 freshman, in all of Peoria's high schools, will be included, with an emphasis on motor skills, life lessons and adding opportunities for college and career scholarships. SCCC also supports the Spectrum Open, a fundraising golf event for Tom's free class for autistic children to develop motor and social skills, through golf. Tom is a member of the Peoria Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Peoria Education Foundation Board, and Founding Board member of the Golf Program in Schools. Tom also supports a weekly class for Eve's Place, teaching victims of domestic violence how to put their lives back together. Tom is a certified SCORE Mentor and has assisted many local small businesses in organization, development, and attaining success! And, he does ALL of this for FREE?!
