The divorce rate is over 50% in our nation and continues to climb. Why are so many couples divorcing? Does living together before marriage lead to divorce? Let’s talk about it!

Step families get a bad rap. There's the evil stepmother or the bad step father. With the divorce rate at 50% it is likely people remarry and become blended families. If you are not a part of a blended family, you most likely know someone who is. It's not easy to create one. There are alliances, hurt feelings, and feelings of betrayal along the way. Blended families are able to succeed. To recognize this, September 16th, is National Step Family Day.
Today my guest is therapist Kellye Laughery who works at the Center For Family Unity and specializes in helping step families become blended famiilies.
Marriage is a legal business partnership that allows the two parties involved to combine assets and build family wealth through inheritance. In the U.S., the 63% divorce rate explains the growing poverty rate. The current economy simply does not allow for a single person to live a comfortable, stress free life, unless that person either earns a high living wage, ownes a successful business, has inherited wealth, or lives a very simple life with few costly possessions (low rent, no car note, no expensive appliances, no expensive clothing.) When marriages fail or never take place, the children from such unions oftten start their adult lives with nothing - no savings, no property, no inheritance to build on. Why aren't we teaching our children the business of marriage? Why are we letting our boys see marriage as a "trap" instead of financial security for themselves and their offspring for generations to come? Single men still struggling to pay rent well into their 60s and 70s is a sign that a foundation was not laid by a strong marriage. Why aren't men and women buying property together that would secure a home for children and grandchildren? Why are we condeming our daughters to poverty by expecting them to struggle with jobs while remaining single mothers? Poverty and homelessness is the result of generations of men and women who never learned the business of marriage - how to build and pass down wealth over several generations. How do we begin to redirect our youth to plan for legal partnerships that stay together long enough to insure an economic foundation for the next generation to build on?

Divorce is a transition that half of once married couples experience. In fact, it is sometimes referred to as “uncoupling,” reflecting the lessening stigma of being divorced. However, divorce is a unique experience for each individual going through the process. It’s unusual for a couple not to have acrimonious thoughts and feelings toward their soon to be divorced partner. Leaving a relationship you thought would last forever is, to say the least, disappointing, even if you are sure it’s the “right” thing to do. Divorce always creates change, and sometimes the loss can feel unbearable, even if there is relief.
Our today's guests are Francine Baras and Nicole B. Feuer, mother and daughter, co-authors of "37 Things I Wish I’d Known Before My Divorce", and co-founders of Start Over Smart: Divorce Advisors, LLC. Our discussion will include a wealth of information about the legal and financial aspects of divorce as well as the very personal. How do I tell the children? How can I minimize the stress for me and my family?
The Dispensation of Righteousness and Preparation is here and it is now time to present and to stand before the Messiah in holiness and righteousness( Rev 19:8). The majority of the United States church has spent more time preparing for divorce court than for the Judge of the Universe and she even has a higher divorce rate than the world. Is the church in the USA prepared today? The Church has spent more time gazing at ography and business opportunity (sow a seed and get your miracle, promotion, husband, house, job, etc) than pursuing the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matt 6:33). Is the church in the USA prepared today?
In this initial segment, The Mighty Prophet, Dr. David Owuor, teaches, warns, and admonishes the global church: prepare to present before the Messiah!
The Judment Seat of Christ as Revealed in Revelation, but ignored by the the church.
And I saw a great white throne, and Him who is sitting upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven did flee away, and place was not found for them; and I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and scrolls were opened, and another scroll was opened, which is that of the life, and the dead were judged out of the things written in the scrolls -- according to their works; and the sea did give up those dead in it, and the death and the hades did give up the dead in them, and they were judged, each one according to their works; and the death and the hades were cast to the lake of the fire -- this [is] the second death; and if any one was not found written in the scroll of the life, he was cast to the lake of the fire. Shalom!

This week, we are so proud to have as our guest, National Teacher of the Year - Mr. Sean McComb. Mr. McComb is a 9-12th grade English teacher at Patapsco High School & Center for the Arts in Baltimore, Maryland. He is currently completing his eighth year as an educator and has been at Patapsco since beginning his teaching career.
“A strong teacher-student relationship facilitates the opportunity for deeper learning and more critical thinking,” says McComb. He firmly believes that public education is the foundation for opportunity and success for any child. In addition to his role as an English instructor, McComb helped develop, and continues to spearhead, Patapsco’s Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program which boasted a 98% college acceptance rate for its last two graduating classes.
McComb’s devotion to the teaching profession extends beyond the classroom as well. He also coaches the Patapsco Cross Country Team, supervises cultural exchange programs, and has led several university training sessions and presentations for future teachers. McComb says that he has found his purpose in teaching stating, “I have worked to engage my students and push them to achieve the excellence within them. Every child deserves nothing less, and my calling is to champion that effort.”
He holds a B.A. in English Literature and a Masters of Education in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh. He also holds a Certificate in School Improvement Leadership from Goucher College.
Each week, WatchDOGS Radio host Keith Schumacher and co-host Chris Danenhauer discuss how this program is impacting families and schools across our nation and in four foreign countries.
