power of perception writers with Dede Faltot Rittman

    in Spirituality

Dede Faltot Rittman graduated from Edinboro University in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary English and attended the University of Pittsburgh for post-graduate credits. After two years at Penn Hills, she began teaching English and Theater in the North Allegheny School District, a position she held for thirty-five years. For thirty-two of those years, Dede worked with underachieving students and those with special meeds.

After thirty-seven years of teaching, Dede Rittman has something to say to those entering the profession.

Students do judge you by your appearance—and appearance includes everything from your perfume to how much “bling” is your thing.

Students come to school with many problems, and the role of “teacher” requires more than just knowing subject matter.

Students will try harder when they believe the teacher “likes” them. Show students that you are a leasant person, but remember that you are the teacher, not their friend.

Students share qualities of a “good” and a “not so good” teacher with Dede, and she shares their list with you – a must-see for new teachers!

Students have successes and failures and real feelings. To be a good teacher, remember that you are not teaching a subject, you are teaching human beings.

FATE, Foundation Aiding The Elderly with Carole Herman

    in Family

    Guest: Carole Herman

After a three-year uphill battle with apathetic officials, files that mysteriously disappeared, several closures of her Aunt’s case with no action, and a pattern of stonewalling by state agencies created to protect patients from abuse and poor care, two things happened: The district administrator of the agency that licensed and monitored nursing homes was fired and Carole Herman, who fought the system for three years, founded FATE, Foundation Aiding The Elderly.

Carole protects the weak, fights the powerful, demands government do its job and doctor's to fulfill the Hippocratic Oath.

In October 2001 Carole was a Volunteer Spirit Award winner receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for her work with FATE on behalf of the elderly and in February 2002 Carole was presented with a Resolution from the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors for "her dedication and care for the elderly of our community."

Today, FATE has affiliated organizations and colleagues fighting elderly patient's rights in Texas, Kansas, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma and South Carolina. FATE has helped families all over the country. Civil actions have been filed on behalf of patients and their families. And the movement to illuminate and reverse the all-too-common incidents of abuse such as neglect, psychiatric drugging and criminal assaults of the elderly is growing.

FATE fulfills a vital and increasing need of providing direct action advocacy and education that will ensure that care is received with the dignity that everyone deserves.

Anti-BDS movement/ US Congressman Doug Lamborn

    in Politics

For the First Half off our show, we have US congressman Doug Lamborn, who was then elected to the US House of Representatives in 2006 to represent Colorado’s Fifth District. Colorado’s Fifth District, based in Colorado Springs, is the proud home to one of our nation’s most military-intensive congressional districts and to more than 100,000 veterans who have served our country with distinction and honor. Because of the district's concentration of veterans, Doug sought to serve on the House Veterans' Affairs Committee and was honored to serve in his first term as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs. Doug was able to work in a bipartisan fashion to push forward important veterans legislation like the Veterans Benefits Improvement Act of 2008, which created a paperless claims process through the establishment of the Veterans Benefits Management System. Doug was also appointed to the House Natural Resources Committee and was later appointed to the House Armed Services Committee as well.

In 2008, Doug became the Ranking Member and in 2010 the Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee’s and will be discussing his support of ISRAEL and his anti-bds bill block federal monies from being used to punish ISRAEL for itself self defense. We have the congressman for a full 15 minutes of interview time, and we hope we can expand him to 30 minutes to discuss IRAN. This show will also air on Artuz Sheva with Ari Louis is it prophecy hour and on his youtube channel as well.
