Patrice Gilgan joins us this evening to expose the abuse and drugging of her father at the hands of doctors and nursing home workers in two different facilities in Orange County, California. The first instance of abuse both physical and with drugs occured at Irvine Cottage Board and Care where Gerald had been sent to recover from brain surgery. Gerald was drugged within 24 hours of admittance to the home with massive doses of Haldol, Seroqel and overdosed on morphine. There was no prescription for the morphine. Cottage Board and Care is operated by St Joseph Hospice, a Catholic enterprise.
At a second facility, Villa Valencia Skilled Nursing, (a St Michael Hospice and another Catholic owned enterprise), Gerald was given 7 different drugs. None of these drugs were to be used on brain injured or individuals suffering from dementia. When Gerald was finally freed from this facility and hospitalized again, it took more than two weeks for him to respond due to the massive drug overload in his system.
Videos of Gerald, and of some of the abuse he endured are available on the you tube channel; Ireland Dallas
Gerald Gilgan was a retired New York City Fire Fighter. This man did not deserve this callous treatment. No one does. Yet it happens to the elderly every day here in the US.
Blair is in his early 80’s and showing sever signs of Alzheimer’s. Joan, Blair’s wife, states, “I was looking into having Blair put into a home.” She discovered that private care would take 80% of their pension. Not only could she not afford to give away 80% of their pension, she was becoming very lonely as Blair was becoming more and more quiet and less and less involved with people. Blair’s walk was slow and his conversations were limited. He was going to bed at 5 pm . Joan says that he has a vacant stare and hardly moves. His balance is getting pretty bad Earlier that day Joan had met with a friend to see about getting a walker for Blair. Blair’s Alzheimer's was progressing rapidly and Joan was afraid of him falling. Joan said she was desperate and willing to try anything. –
Joan was invited to a Natural Health Meeting by Val and after the meeting they set up a holistic vitamin and herb natural health program. Blair went on the program and Joan says their life has changed.
Don’t miss out on hearing Joan’s Testimony on how now they are living in their own home and Blair continues daily to improve.

In his breakthrough works of channeled literature,I Am the Word,The Book of Love and Creation and The Book of Knowing and Worth, author and medium Paul Selig recorded an extraordinary program for personal and planetary evolution as humankind awakens to its own divine nature. I Am the Word, The Book of Love and Creation and The Book of Knowing and Worth are energetic transmissions that works directly on its readers to bring them into alignment with the frequency of the Word, which Paul’s guides call the energy of “God in Action.”
Paul was born in New York City and received his Master’s Degree from Yale. He had a spiritual experience in 1987 that left him clairvoyant.

All things are possible to them that believe, I believe!

Blessed is the man that finds wisdom because length of days is in her right hand and riches and honor in her left hand.

Join Behind the Words host Lori Hays as she welcomes back 2013's most popular guest, horror Author Maz Marik.
Maz Marik is a horror author from England. Born in the small town of Threapwood, he grew up in the Midlands and has also lived in the USA, the Caribbean, Spain, Mexico, Turkey and Egypt.
He currently lives in the south of England, a setting he has employed for his debut novel End Storm, which was published as an e-book at Amazon on December 1st 2012.
Since then, Maz has succuesfully published three short stories and another novel in the End Storm Saga, all of which have been amazing.
Stepping away from the Zombie-esqe world, but sticking with the horror, Maz is set to publish an epic new novel, highly relevant to so many people taking care of family members suffering from dimentia.
The Absent is a paranormal horror novel based on the genuine accounts of the care workers and family members of a dementia sufferer, describing unusual occurrences within his bungalow over the course of four years.
Although the characters and narrative are fictional, all the visions and hallucinations are based on first-hand reports from the patient to the caregivers, or on the experiences of the carers themselves.
This is a show you won't want to miss! Be sure to tune in.

Join Dave Nassaney, The Caregiver's Caregiver, as he interviews Jan De Felicis, cancer survivor, (still under treatment) while at the same time being a caregiver to her husband (who is in the beginning stages of dimentia and is in need of both knee replacements). You won't want to miss this powerful inspirational fighter's story, (Jan has since gone to be with the Lord shortly after this interview was taped).
Dave Nassaney, the host of Dave, The Caregiver's Caregiver, is author of numerous articles and books, speaker, life coach, and radio talk-show host for caregivers who are burned out, but his most important role is being a caregiver to his lovely wife, Charlene. His latest book that he is now working on is entitled: "The Caregiver's Caregiver, A Guide to Avoiding Burnout and Surviving Grief." It is designed to teach caregivers who are taking care of their loved ones (due to an illness or disability) how to take care of themselves FIRST. If they don't learn this, they will likely suffer burnout and become as helpless as the person they are caring for. Yune in every Saturday at 3:30pm PST for interviews with experts in the caregiving field, as they discuss topics of great interest to caregivers, which will help them avoid burnout.

A group of local storytellers, Emily Sterling, Kelly Hansen, Kenny Field and Zoe Pilliafas wondered: "Is it possible that when your memory begins to cloud, you hold on more strongly to memories of your truest love? When the distraction of life’s mundane memories disappears are you left with the distillation of your life’s truest love?"
These storytellers felt it was time for them to share the stories of the residents of The Emerson House Dementia Care Facility on Division Street. They interviewed and photographed these residents and found that "in memory loss, in aging, in an assisted living facility, there can be beauty, grace, dignity, and great adventure."
In February, they displayed these stories and photographs in an exhibit titled, "What is the Love of Your Life?" at Portland Grind. It explored passions outside of an intimate relationship as the secret to a happy life.
Tune in to learn all about this project and be challenged to explore, what is the love of your life!!!
