A good portion of our community is currently subject to the welfare system, whether it be food stamps, social security, medicare or something else. Is this a good thing or bad? Can people on welfare truly engage in the revolutionary struggle if they depend on that check to come every month. What if it stops? Not to mention the psychological tethering it creates for people who see it as their means to an end. They get comfortable and refuse to do things for themselves, but let us not talk like conservatives. Can people use welfare for their benefit and still build a thriving community and prosperous future for their kids.
In this broadcast we cover the recent events of ' normalized' relations between the United States and Cuba
What does that mean for the Black Panther Party, BLA, and Republic of New Afrika freedom fighters who have political exile on the island?
Why is there a renewed call for the capture of Assata Shakur? What does she mean to the Black Liberation Movement? Why was she called the soul of the Black Liberation army?
What about the release of three members of the cuban 5? What are the real economic embargo impacts in Cuba?

December 15, 2014 should go down as the day when criminal injustice reigned supreme. Rev. Edward Pinkney was sentenced to 2.5 to 10 years in prison for alleged election fraud and Gov. Don Siegelman was denied his freedom while waiting for his appeal hearing on January 13th.
Ben Ptashnik and Andrea Miller speak with activists and supporters of Rev. Edward Pinkney and former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman.
This Christmas Reverend Pinkney will not be home with his family. He has been sentenced for up to 10 years in Prison on trumped up political charges because he has stood up to the 1% against the Whirlpool Corporation in Benton Harbor.
He is in effect a political prisoner. Please stand in solidarity with Rev Pinkney and his wife Dorothy.
Don Siegelman was the extremely popular Democratic Governor of Alabama; there was talk that he could be a contender in the 2004 Presidential primary and stop the Republican takeover of the South. Karl Rove and his operatives knew they had to stop Don Siegelman and they went to extraordinary lengths to destroy his career.

December 23rd at 1PM EST – The ILWU contract expired on July 1, 2014, and once again the West Coast port container offloads and onloads have been crippled during contentious union negotiations in the face of near-record imports and exports during the accelerating economic recovery. Hundreds of millions of dollars in losses have already occurred in agricultural exports, retail imports that will have to be dumped at fire sales after Christmas, manufacturing productivity losses from just-in-time raw material delays, and future losses from overseas buyers who will source products elsewhere in 2015 and beyond. Listen to our December 23rd show LIVE at 1PM EST as we talk about this prickly situation.
Guest: Victor Triay, author of "On freedom's shore", the 3rd volume about a Cuban family and the political changes in the island.
