DST on BTR 11/23/15: Tigs get Maybin, Lions win, CFBITM, CBBITM, Pistons, Wings

    in Sports

Taylor "Gator" Phillips and Ed Smith break down the Tigers trading Ian Krol and Gabe Speier to the Atlanta Braves for Cameron Maybin, which means Rajai Davis is likely gone. We'd also like to note that the "Tigers sign Zach Greinke" article is a fake article, which means it didn't happen. The Tigers also hired Lloyd McClendon as the AAA Toledo Mud Hens manager.

We also touch on the Lions hiring Rod Wood as president, announcing their relocation on radio to 760 (am) WJR, and winning 18-13 over the Oakland Raiders at Ford Field, which pretty much ruins their chances at getting the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, which still stands to be Ole Miss Rebels junior defensive end Robert Nkemdiche.

Moving over to college football, the #9 Michigan State Spartans upset the #3 Ohio State Buckeyes 17-14 at The Horseshoe, and the Michigan Wolverines pull away with a 28-16 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions at Happy Valley.

In college basketball, the Wolverines fell flat against the Xavier Musketeers 86-70 AT HOME, while the Michigan State Spartans blast through Arkansas Pine Bluff 92-46 and took care of the Eastern Michigan Eagles 89-65.

The Pistons beat the Timberwolves 96-86 at Target Center but give one away to the Washington Wizards 97-95 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. They also got destroyed by the Milwaukee Bucks 109-88 on the road.

The Red Wings hang on in regulation to beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 but give up another late third-period game-tying goal and still beat the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in overtime at Scottrade Center. Plus, former Red Wing Landon Ferraro was claimed off waivers by the Boston Bruins.

Data Analytics and Global Talent Gaps

    in Business

It is said that what is measured, is what is capable of change.  But everything can be measured and everything can be changed overnight.  However, 65% of change efforts fail and yes, some of that is attributed to the change management process, but come on let's not put all of the accountability on the change management folks.  What about the data analysis and findings that gave life to the change?  Yes, data does lie.  And that's because numbers can tell you what you want them to tell you.  There are a lot of qualitative data that are overlooked everyday in organizations because they are easier to put into an excel sheet and present for buy-in decisions, not because they are the whole truth.  During this episoce, we will discuss one area that Data is highly used, yet not necessarily in the most effective way.

Historically, men were protectors and providers; women were compassionate nurturers. Both sexes were playing very specific roles (11:40)

The 70’s moved women into the angry, bra burning stage which was necessary to get the ball rolling but that is NOT what feminism is about (11:51)

The year 1985 is a benchmark-that’s the year when women started earning 50% of all college degrees (12:12)

Today, we earn 60-65% of all degrees, Bachelors and Masters’ combined and we’ve been in the work force since the mid-80’s (12:16)

Can a woman be nice and competent in today’s workplace? (15:15)

Despite the higher numbers for advanced degrees, women only represent 4.7% of CEO’s in Fortune 500 companies and at major tech companies women only represent 20% of employees in all roles (18:30)

Where and how do women struggle the most in the workplace?  (21:00)

What is ‘tentative speech’ and how does it hurt women?  (21:52)

    November 9th Prayer Call

    in Prayer

So [it shall be] that he who invokes a blessing on himself in the land shall do so by saying, May the God of truth and fidelity [the Amen] bless me; and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth and faithfulness to His promises [the Amen], because the former troubles are forgotten and because they are hidden from My eyes. For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. And the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. Isaiah 65:16-17
