    Dangers of a religious spirit

    in Christianity

What is a religious spirit? The Lord has made a clear distinction in the Bible between man-made religion, and a relationship with Him. One is based on works, the other on love. One is based on what can be seen, the other on the heart. One is  based on vanity, the other on  truth. One is governed by man, the other by God Himself.

A religious spirit keeps you in bondage to the traditions of men, and prevents you from being guided by the Holy Spirit.

Plagues in the Black Community Part 1: What's killing our sisters the Womb-man?

    in Culture

Everyone of us was born with a purpose and a divine assignment given by the creator of the Universe. Each one of us has a vibration, a sound and a method of doing things. No 2 people are exactly alike. Unity in diversity can be achieved.

It's time to knock over the sacred cows we so often have within the "Black Community". We have community secrets and sadly a whole lot of family secrets that have been passed on from generation to generation. What I mean is that we have certain habits, attributes, qualities that are often beneath who we really are that play a detrimental role in our demise and our inability to rise collectively. We have to now begin to have real honest conversation with each other so the cycle of dysfunction can finally end. This will allow us to truly rise and shine because the light of the Most High only functions in the realm of TRUTH can prevail.

Why so many dysfunctional relationships? Why so many babies by multiple fathers? How does the absence of a father impact our sister's lives? What does a strong "Black Independent Woman" really mean? Why generation after generation on public assistance? What happened to proper parenting? Why does it appear so many have resentment towards the "Black Man"? Why does it appear so many don't recognize that being promoted faster by the White establishment over their Black men further divides our community? Why is the strip club lure so prevalent amongst our daughters? Should our sisters be part of the "Women's liberation movement"? Why do so many embrace the White woman's symbol of beauty? There was a time in the past when a “Black Woman” would never come out the house with rollers in her head and nightclothes on. What happened to our elegant sisters? Let’s collectively examine these issues.

    Men you are up next…

Ms Leona Brady Watson, Legendary Cariso Master

    in Culture

TRIBUTE TO LEONA BRADY WATSON -- HON. VICTOR O. FRAZER (Extension of Remarks - August 1, 1996) [Page: E1424] --- HON. VICTOR O. FRAZER in the House of Representatives, Wednesday, July 31, 1996

"Mr. Speaker, Leona Brady Watson was born on the island of St. Croix. At the tender age of 3, she began her education, which involved walking from Estate Two Friends to Frederikdsted where she attended St. Patrick's School. After finishing the third grade, she journeyed to the United States, and completed her formal education there."

"Upon returning to St. Croix in the late 50's, Mrs. Watson came home with a special yearning for her culture. She spent many years learning about what was a dying art in the Virgin Islands, the art of cariso, from the elders, particularly the ones on the north side of the island and the Frederiksted area. Leona was able to attain and maintain our delicate culture through their stories, soups, and music of days gone by. Leona continues to be honored by various cultural organizations as a tradition bearer for her untiring contribution to the cultural growth of the Virgin Islands, and the knowledge of the history of our beloved homeland."

"Some of Leona's famed works include: Quoted in 3 published books; actress in the film, The Story of Cariso, nationally acclaimed; performance in numerous stage shows, on island and abroad; participated in the 24th Annual Festival of American Folklife, the Virgin Islands; program sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution and the Virgin Islands."

"Leona is also a highly respected herbologist who has been asked most recently to participate in cultural exchange between Africa (Senegal), China and Switzerland."

  • From Darkness to Light: Curse of the Cross

    in Religion

It is said that symbols are a language that connects us to our hidden past; but is this a past worthy of remembrance? Especially in consideration that nearly every religious symbol which has endured till present day was created in honor of a pagan god or in representation of some aspect of nature. The Biblical Israelites were forbidden by God to create or worship any image or symbol graven by man. How then is it that many of these ancient symbols have found an enduring home in the Judeo-Christian traditions throughout the world? Most of the world would readily recognize and identify the Cross as the true symbol of Christianity. And for the nearly two billion Christians on the planet the Cross is a representation of the life, suffering and sacrifice of Jesus for the redemption of sins. But even Christianity’s most beloved and recognized symbol has origins steeped in witchcraft, divination, astrology and the worship of the heavenly bodies. Are symbols forever and intrinsically linked to their primordial origin? Or is the meaning of a symbol given by the individual holder with no consideration of its origin? Join us today for another installment of “From Darkness to Light” as we use the words of the Holy Bible to reveal the sign of the Cross as a forgery and the doctrine of a false Christ!
