THE HEAVENLY TABERNACLE....What is it ?

    in The Bible

In the dogmatic construct of "so called" christianity many speak of a temple/tabernacle in heaven. What is this? Revelation and the book of Hebrews talk alot about this tabernacle. In the wilderness the nation of Israel was commanded to build a tabernacle which God told Moses to be sure he built it exactly according to the pattern he showed him in the mountain. What does all this mean?

    Tabernacle (Exod. 40:2).

Metaphysical. The temporal body of man. The tabernacle represents the temporal body, as the
Temple built by Solomon in Jerusalem represents the regenerated, permanent body. In the wilderness of
sense, man worships God in a tent, or a temporary, transitory state of mind, which makes a perishable
body. Yet in this flimsy structure are all the furnishings of the great temple that is to be built. The outer
structure was of cloth, but the altar, laver, candlestick, Ark of the Covenant, and all the inner utensils
were of gold and silver and precious woods. This means that the central functions of the body are
enduring and that it is the fleshly covering that is so perishable. When the Lord commanded the building
of this temporary structure there was a promise of a permanent one. So the body of every man is the
promise of an imperishable one, even the body of Christ.

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. HONORING THE SABBATH THROUGH HIS WORD

    in Christianity

A holy day set apart each week for rest and worship. After God created all things, he rested on the seventh day and commanded that one day each week be a day of rest to help people remember him (Ex. 20:8–11).

The Sabbath reminds people of their need for spiritual nourishment and of their duty to obey God. When a nation grows careless in observing the Sabbath, all aspects of life are affected and its religious life becomes decayed (Neh. 13:15–18; Jer. 17:21–27).

    God rested on the seventh day:Gen. 2:1–3;

St. John de Britto -- Jesuit martyr in India. He was a native of Lisbon, Portugal, was dedicated at birth to St. Francis Xavier, and was a noble friend of King Pedro. He entered the Jesuits at the age of fifteen. In his effort to promote conversions among the native Indian people as a missionary to Goa, he wandered through Malabar and other regions and even adopted the customs and dress of the Brahmin caste which gave him access to the noble classes. In 1683, John had to leave India but returned in 1691. Arrested, tortured, and commanded to leave India, he refused and was put to death. Pope Pius XII canonized him in 1947.

A Musing: Falling in Love with His People

    in Women

    Today's Show:

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35

Catch the word command. It's important. You have been commanded to love. It's not a suggestion.

Loving God's people isn't always easy, but it's always necessary. Our focus has to be clear. We are loving others for Him.

Author, Susan B. Mead, will be my special guest today. We will be discussing the second topic in the Falling In Love series: Falling in Love with His People.

    Saint Valentine

    in Religion

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

Saint Valentine -- Valentine was a holy priest in Rome, who, with St. Marius and his family, assisted the martyrs in the persecution under Claudius II. He was apprehended, and sent by the emperor to the prefect of Rome, who, on finding all his promises to make him renounce his faith ineffectual, commanded him to be beaten with clubs, and afterwards, to be beheaded, which was executed on February 14, about the year 270. Pope Julius I is said to have built a church near Ponte Mole to his memory, which for a long time gave name to the gate now called Porta del Popolo, formerly, Porta Valetini. The greatest part of his relics are now in the church of St. Praxedes. His name is celebrated as that of an illustrious martyr in the sacramentary of St. Gregory, the Roman Missal of Thomasius, in the calendar of F. Fronto and that of Allatius, in Bede, Usuard, Ado, Notker and all other martyrologies on this day. To abolish the heathens lewd superstitious custom of boys drawing the names of girls, in honor of their goddess Februata Juno, on the fifteenth of this month, several zealous pastors substituted the names of saints in billets given on this day.
