Our guest today is Kenneth Johnson founder of Velica Comics. Kenneth started creating comics when he was 8 years old. Using school paper, crayons, ink pens and a stapler, he created various tales inspired by the books he was reading at the time. After his time in the US Navy, he pursued his art career by attending art college in the pacific northwest. He has been involved with various independent projects with some outstanding talent that have gone on to aspiring careers in their own right. Kenneth is a passionate comic illustrator and storyteller who tells the stories he sees and hopes others will come along for the ride.
Velica Comics focuses on exciting fantasy stories in comic and graphic novel formats through various distribution methods.

It's Monday night which means a new episode of Graphic Policy Radio! This is the show that mixes comics, geekdom, and politics.
This week we mix some comic discussion with that of conventions. On this episode:
We chat about Marvel and Peter David's All-New X-Factor.
This past weekend was Otakon. The convention covers manga, anime, and cosplay and attracts over 100,000 individuals to Baltimore, MD, for the weekend. We talk about the convention and some of the interesting observations from it.
We're talking those two things and more! You can listen in live, but also join in the conversation by calling us, or Tweeting us your thoughts, @graphicpolicy.
Raina Telgemeier and Dave Roman, one of America's most successful comics artist married couples, also have a rare distinction I doubt any other similar comics artist couples can match-BOTH were BORN on the SAME DAY! Yes, they were both born on Thursday, May 26th, 1977! I'll be profiling them today on my second to last Friday show for awhile. I'm changing my regular time slot to the first Saturday afternoon of each month at 4:00 PM Eastern American Time! That begins July 5th! In the meantime, enjoy this Friday show at 2:00 PM today on June 6th, and my last Friday show at 2:00 PM the following week! And be sure to listen to all my shows on archive, including an interview show I did with Raina Telegemeier four years ago on February 15th, 2010 called "Raina Telgemeier's SMILE". Enjoy!
what we are going talk about is the true classic stories of dc comics on the small screen, big screen and in comic books. there been so many like superman death. death of the robin. and even the cult classic tv shows like smallville, wonder woman,60's batman shows where these shows did follow the comics. now with dc redoing the stories in the 52 stories it just hasn't been the same. i bet u if tom welling did the movie man of steel and got the rest of the cast members of smallville the movie would been bigger hit. now we got henry cavill as superman who has been doing a good job but now there saying that the one with the batman showing up is going be a pre justice league movie. and this fall we are going have tv show on the flash and the new crappy batman show gotham. so far dc is losing to marvel cause marvel has been staying true to there stories and who the hero's are about the only ones that got right was richard donner superman movie. and keaton batman movie. there alot work that dc needs to do. the only thing that dc did right was the batman arkham games and now we got arkham knights coming out here soon. but call in and tell us what u think
