Re-establishing the US Civilian Conservation Corps #CCC

    in US Government

Jay D. Alexander is the president and founder with the non-partisan grassroots non-profit called Civilian Conservation Corps Initiative and their goal is to re-establish the US Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Since his ranger service at Raccoon Creek he has been an advocate for their re-establishment.

Join us with Jay and special guest Fay Cunningham, an alum of the original CCC, as we discuss the revitalization effort of the Civilian Conservation Corps Initiative and what it involves and how you can contact your Representatives to get them to cosponsor “HR188 - The 21st Century Civilian Conservation Corps Act” which is sponsored by Ohio Representative Marcy Kaptur. HR188 is a job creation program that re-establishes a Civilian Conservation Corp that puts to work unemployed and underemployed civilians to advance useful public works projects aimed at safeguarding natural resources and developing new transportation and infrastructure.

Military Monday! Veteran to Civilian Transition Part 1

    in Lifestyle

I am excited to be hosting a four part series dedicated specifically to our Veterans.  The aim is to increase our understanding of what Veterans are going through as they transition back to 'civilian life' and the workforce.  During a Diversity Think Tank session in Washington, DC, I had the honor of meeting a brilliant mind and even more remarkable man, Mr. Greg Jenkins of inQuest Consulting. Greg recently completed a successful US Army career spanning over 30 years that included duties in Germany, South Korea, Iraq and a number of stateside assignments culminating at the Pentagon, Washington D.C. Greg was one of the founding team members of the Army Diversity Office, where his commitment to diversity & inclusion was instrumental in helping create the Army's first-ever diversity policy and other initiatives.

    Cops and citizens swap outrage

    in Politics Progressive

Unfortunately, the most recent horror — two NYC police officers ambused and mrudered — is only just that, the most recent horror. This time though, the cops were killed rather than doing the killing. That has changed everything except the commentators.

Not surprisingly, the huge, old-line police departmkets (thhnk NY, Boston, Chicago) are always quickest to blame others with inflammatory language...while avoiding any responsibility themselves for deaths and troubles. In this case, protestors weren't supposed to speak out against civilian violent deaths at the hands of cops. Moreover, they should stop thtis FIrst Amendment stuff immediatey and forever! Coming under the steam roller also are the likes of NYC Mayor de Blasio, President Obama and, well, liberals in general.

I"ll kick around my take on the dreadful dynamics.
