Celtics Talk Radio Episode 127 Celtics face one of their toughtest stretches

    in Sports

The Celtics played one of their toughest 4 game combinations this season as they went at it with the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder. 3 of the 4 games were in Boston at the TD Garden. The only road game was against the Pacers. But the Celtics having been one of the teams to have played the most games in the NBA thus far this season got plenty of rest during this 4 game stretch. On our last show we discussed the Celtics going 1-1 on a back to back that saw them beat Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks the first night then lose to Lebron James, the Refs and the Cavs the next night. The Celtics then got 4 days off before hosting the Memphis Grizzlies in Boston. The Celtics got 1 day off before hosting the Houston Rockets on Friday. Then got 3 days off before facing a tought back to back set which saw them face off with the Pacers out in Indiana then travel back to Boston to take on the Thunder the next night. In those games the Celtics opponents will all be playing on atleast 1 days rest or more. The Celtics went into the game against the Grizzlies with a 1/2 game lead over the Heat for 3rd place in the Eastern Conference. Trailed the Raptors by 5 Games for 2nd place. At the ending of this stretch the Celtics will be going at it with the Raptors in the final 2 games of the season series. The Celtics must win both to prevent the Raptors from holding the tiebreaker via the head to head wins. So where do the Celtics stand after the 4 game stretch. Did they gain ground on Toronto who had to face off with the Hawks, Heat, Bulls, Bucks and are going at it with the Pacers right now as we speak or did Toronto move closer to first and further from the Celtics. What about the Celtics/Heat race. The Heat had to take on the Bucks, Bulls, Raptors, Nuggets and are taking on the Hornets right now. Are the Celtics still ahead of them? Or did they gain some ground prior to this show. We will break it down on Celtics Talk Radio

Celtics Talk Radio episode 125 The longest home stand of the Celtics season

    in Sports

The Celtics started the post all-star break schedule with a 3 game western conference road trip. With trips in Utah, Denver, and Minnesota the Celtics went 1-2 in that 3 game trip and fell from the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference to the 4th seed. The Celtics after losing to the Wolves felt they were not playing as truly committed as they needed to be on the defensive end to win all 3 games on the road trip. The Celtics after having 2 days off after playing the Timberwolves now got a 5 game home stand with games against the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Utah Jazz, Portland Trailblazers and New York Knicks. With the game against the Blazers being the only game where the Celtics are facing a team who would be coming to Boston playing the 2nd night of a back to back all other games both teams should be well rested. So we are 4 games into the 5 game home stand with the game against the New York Knicks scheduled for tomorrow night. So where are the Celtics right now after the first 4 games at home. Have they figured out a way to get the offensive running a little more smoothly without the services of Kelly Olynyk available? What about that final roster spot has Danny Ainge signed someone to take the roster spot that David Lee left behind after being bought out. Also whats the Eastern Conference look like now in terms of the standings. Your Celtics Talk Crew for the 2nd week in a row will be all alone discussing while welcoming your calls to the hotline to dicuss with them the latest Boston Celtics news. Celtics Talk Radio episode 120 What to expect from the Celtics in February

    in Sports

Since the last episode of Celtics Talk Radio. The Celtics have played 7 games. First facing off with the Phoenix Suns at TD Garden. Then the Celtics took on a 6 day 3 game road trip. Making stops in Washington to face the Wizards. Then traveled to Dallas to take on the Mavericks. Then went up to Toronto to take on the Raptors. The Celtics then returned home to face off with the Chicago Bulls before going back off on the road for 2 games first in Philadelphia to face the 76ers and then another trip to Washington to face the Wizards on their court for the 2nd time in less then 2 weeks. Going into this stretch the Celtics had just snapped a 4 game losing streak by beating Paul George and the Indiana Pacers for the 1st time this season. The Celtics were just on outside of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference trailing the 8th seeded Orlando Magic by a 1/2 game after that win vs the Pacers. So the question is now did the Celtics right the ship. The players know that the NBA Trade Deadline is on the horizon and some are playing for their right to remain on the team as they know the Celtics will be buyers rather the Sellers at the trade Deadline this season due to all the assets Danny Ainge has in his back pocket. So did the Celtic's manage to get back on track and start rising up in the standings in the Eastern Conference. Or was the win against the Pacers just a fluke and the team is still having issues. Meanwhile with less then a month to go before the NBA Trade Deadline. What are the latest rumors coming out that Celtics fans will need to keep an eye out for. We will discuss those stories with Adam Lowenstein.

The Celtics would then proceed to lose game 5 in Atlanta via a blowout and lose game 6 in front of their fans in Boston to end the season. The Celtics lost the regular season series 3-1 to the Hawks so the Hawks had the edge going into the series as it was based on regular season matchup. The Hawks as the 4th seed had the Home Court advantage as well. But the advantages only got bigger for the Hawks as the series Progressed. In game 1 the Celtics lost starting Shooting Guard Avery Bradley for what would be the rest of the series. In that same game Celtics big man Kelly Olynyk was also injured and would end up missing games 2 and 3 before returning to play minimal action in games 4 and 5. Your Celtics Talk Crew will now recap alongside special guest Rich Contee the Hawks playoff series. They will discuss what were some of the key issues the Celtics had that caused them to lose this series. Was it simply that they were missing Avery Bradley and were too banged up. How about the officiating which many people including the NBA even admitted screwed up at times in this series. Did that cost the Celtic's. Did some of the Celtics pending fre agents like Evan Turner and Jared Sullinger perform a way that will make our host and our guest say resign them or let them walk. Celtics Talk Radio episode 128 Celtics try to get by without Jae Crowder

    in Sports

On the last edition of Celtics Talk Radio. The Celtics Talk Crew talked about the Celtics 3 game losing streak. The Celtics had lost to Houston, Indiana and Oklahoma City prior to out last show. More importantly during the game against Houston the Celtics lost small forwards Jae Crowder and Jonas Jerebko. Leaving the Celtics with no options but to play guards against small forwards Paul George (ind) and Kevin Durant (okc) in their matchups vs the Pacers and Thunder which played key roles in their defeats. Since our last show the Celtics have now played the Toronto Raptors twice as well as the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics after having total control of the 3rd seed fell into a 4 team battle for the 3rd seed after losing those 3 games in a row. So Where do they stand now one week and 4 games later. Meanwhile they got Kelly Olynyk back in the game against OKC. How has he looked over the last week. Is he progressing in his return or is he still looking rusty. Has this past week shown us that there is someone else more important to this team then Isaiah Thomas. Or did the Celtics manage to survive and maintain their hold on the 3rd seed without Jae Crowder and Jonas Jerebko. Are either of them back. We will discuss those stories with our special guest Warren Shaw of the NBA Baseline Podcast on this edition of Celtics Talk Radio
