Tom Canete started his career shoveling neighbor’s driveways for extra cash as a small child, working while his friends played in the snow. He also delivered papers before going to school and soon began a four season operation offering lawn care, fall clean-ups, gutter cleaning and of course, snow removal. By the time he was in high school, Tom had two full time employees working for him. The employees worked the business while Tom was in school. In time, Tom grew his company into one of Northern New Jersey’s most recognized landscape and snow removal companies. This year Tom took on the huge task of taking care of the MetLife Stadium – it is this contract that brings him to the broadcast this evening – as he will discuss the process to get the contract, the challenges and rewards as well as how it went.
Tonight Tom will talk about managing snow and ice.
Some of the topics he will discuss are:
How to utilize equipment better
Why you must manage every aspect of your business
Teaming up with responsible subs
Preventative maintenance practices and procedures
What is risk management
Managing MetLife Stadium
We are no longer just snow pushers. We are snow and ice managers or more appropriately, risk managers. We manage the risk for potential accidents that may occur from snow accumulation and ice formation. These risks come in the form of slip and fall accidents and automobile accidents, which then lead to the biggest risk of all, lawsuits. Lawsuits that can range from $10,000-$25,000 dollars for a minimal injury. whether it was real or fabricated, to millions of dollars for serious injuries or even death.
Like most problems in business, the best way to deal with them is by not having them in the first place. In other words, the best defense is a good offense. Listen tonight as Tom discusses some best of breed practices that you must follow to protect your company and employees, your clients and the general public. Tonight, his advice could literally save your business and possibly someone’s life.
This weeks special guest is Tom Canete, President and CEO of Canete Snow Management Inc.
Canete Snow Management, Inc. has been recognized as one of the "Top 100" snow contractors nationwide by GIE Media Snow Magazine.
Tonight, Tom is going to share his knowledge, background and experience in the snow fighting industry. From his humble beginnings working out of his basement to how he manages storms from just his laptop and cell phone to how he just landed one of his biggeest accounts. Tom is going to try to condense 35 years of experience into about 45 minutes.
I don’t know any contractor that knows the business of snow management better than Tom or would be willing to discuss their Trade Secrets with his competitors.
Phone lines will be open to take your questions live, so make sure to call in early.
