THE ROAD HAWGS RADIO NETWORK - INSIDE SCOOP - SPECIAL GUEST GLORIA STRUCK

    in Lifestyle

     GLORIA STRUCK

My guest this week will be Gloria Struck from New Jersey. Gloria is an inspiration to many as she continues to show the world what “90 years old” looks like! Gloria has been riding since she was in her teens. She rode big bikes when riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles was reserved for Men only. Despite years of being turned away, even scorned for wearing pants and acting like a man she continues to point the way for women of all ages. At 90 Gloria puts on hundreds of miles at a time often with her daughter, Lori Struck DiSilva, who accompanies her mother on many trips. This year Gloria will celebrate her 90th birthday in Nova Scotia at the Motor Maids Convention where she is still an active member!

Americans Unite to Stop Toll Roads and Save the American Freeways

    in Politics

Attention American Transportation Leaders - It is Time to Stop Toll Roads and Restore our Freeways!

Guests: Terri Hall - Texans for Toll-free Highways

Patrick Hand - Stop  the Tolls

Americans know there are better ways to fund highways than TOLL TAXES.  We know everyone's cost of living goes up with the cost of transportation. We know everyone benefits from transportation regardless of how many miles they drive on the highways.  We know it is wrong for our local, state and federal representatives and quasi-governmental agencies to sell-off public infrastructure to foreign corporations. We know "Public Private Partnerships" are nothing more than a major source for governmental corruption.  We know these individuals/representatives, quasi-governmental agencies and P3s are NOT working in the best interest of the American people. We know it is up to us to demand changes in transportation.

The time is now for Americans to come together to shut-down toll roads across the U.S.A.  We can shut-down the toll roads if we work  together.

Here are some of the grassroot groups working to stop toll roads:

    Louisiana  http://www.stopthetolls.org/
    Texas http://tollfreehighways.com/author/thall/

    North Carolina  http://www.stopthetollroad.com/index.html
    Illinois - Indiana  http://www.openlands.org/illiana

If you are ready to take back our country and our freeways, contact these groups and get involved!

Back From a Brief Hiatus! Afronerd's Grindhouse-Pop Culture News, Sat@6pm

    in Politics Conservative

Howdy, loyal citizenry! We took a break from a few shows, but we're back and are fully committed (or should be!).  Welcome to the latest episode of Afronerd Radio's Grindhouse, airing this Saturday at 6pm.  Join discussants the "Uncanny" Daryll B., Capt. Kirk and DBurt as they unravel the following Mike Tyson mysteries:  Dburt got into a heated twitter debate over gender, race and Marvel Comics mythology over (once again) film director, Ava DuVernay possible helming of the forthcoming Black Panther movie.  Can Dburt explain himself? (let's see); and speaking of race, our thoughts on Sony's legal decree that Spiderman as brand should remain a straight White male (how does Miles Morales feel about that?); Oh and there's a new Spiderman actor (somewhat uneventful); we finally address the SC shootings/terrorism (Confederate flag removal, POTUS' Amazing Grace and Sean Hannity's hip hop rebuttal); our thoughts on new (and returning) TV shows-Humans, Dark Matter, Defiance and Jennifer Beals' Proof; Dburt checked out the Dope film; The SCOTUS approves same sex marriage and lastly, a real life Dope moment (Blerds vs Thugs) gets caught on camera in Philly.  Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.

Why do we let people who commit violence or lie to the public talk?

    in Self Help

I don't care why someone commits murder, they should be made to pay the price.  The price should be commensurate with the crime.  Don't let them talk, don't let them try to explain their way out of doing murder or lying.

The Oklahoma City Bomber should have been made to sit on a drum of explosives in an isolated area and made to sit and sit and just when he thinks he is safe, explode the bomb.  Let him feel the tragedy he visited on so many people, let him know the fear of the unknown.

Being lenient with people, giving excuses to and for people who commit heinous acts is not my job.  I don't want to be distracted from the serious nature of what crime they committed.

We have people sitting in prison with life sentences for selling or using marijuana.  Why?  Nowadays using marijuana as long as you are not trafficking in it or lacing it with LSD or some poison it is considered a misdemeanor.

Things are not quite right with the legal system.  I like the judge who sentenced a young girl to walk 30 miles or spend 30 days in jail and pay a fine a more just punishment for using a taxi cab to get some place and then stiff the driver.

Letting people lie about stealing money is dangerous.  If a corporation or people lie for whatever reason there should be a punishment, not an excuse, a slap on the hand and a promise not to do it again.  Lying becomes a habit and should be stopped at an early age.  If not stopped then the punishment should fit the crime.  Rachel Dolezal lied about being black;  I don't know what her punishment should be, but I wouldn't let her go on public tv and explain it.  There is no justification for what she has done and if she is mentally ill treat the illness don't parade her around.

You can tell I am really upset by people who get away with doing wrong - don't make them public figures

John Carver Show - The Next Lane

    in Self Help

On this show I am sharing a sermon I gave on June 21, 201t called "The Next Lane."  Here is some of what I said...

There have been times, when I sat down on the bike at the gym, to glance over and see the guy next to me up to five, six or seven miles.  For a second, I think I can’t catch up until I remember he started peddling about 15 min before I sat down.

A company chartered a ship for its top sales people. When they arrived at the dock, they swarmed aboard and headed for their cabins. A minute later one salesman was on deck demanding to see the Captain. One of the officers asked if he could help. "My friend has a much better cabin!" the salesman said. "I did as good a job as he did and I want a cabin just like his."

"Sir," the officer replied, "The cabins are identical."

"Yeah," said the man, "but his cabin looks out on the ocean and my cabin looks out on this old dock."

The man had become so absorbed with playing the comparison game that he became blind to the obvious-the ship would soon be on the ocean and all the views would be the same.

Have you ever noticed that we are perfectly content with what we have-until we compare what we have with what someone else has?

2 Corinthians 10:12 Living Bible (TLB) - 12 Oh, don’t worry, I wouldn’t dare say that I am as wonderful as these other men who tell you how good they are! Their trouble is that they are only comparing themselves with each other and measuring themselves against their own little ideas. What stupidity!

We, often, forget that the guy or gal in the next lane has their own story and we don’t know the details.
