There is a growing expectation among consumers that businesses provide an active social outlet for them to interact with. As inbound marketing continues to grow, there are a few key methods for attracting the right kind of followers; plus a few to avoid completely.
Marla Loyva, from Cohesion Media, will discuss the vital key methods include the creation of new and compelling content for your page, using distinctive graphics that support your brand, creating a holistic plan of how to integrate Facebook with the rest of your marketing strategy, and finally - properly utilizing the Facebook Ads feature with targeted and relevant ads that have a defined purpose. A little less than a year ago, she had home broken into. Clearly being watched, they were robbed in a matter of 5 minutes when they took their puppies out for their evening pee break. 5 minutes was all it took for her to learn some incredibly valuable lessons as a small business owner.
Extremely efficient, the thieves took only her laptop, iPhone, iPad, and wallet. Everything she needed to run her business was taken in the blink of an eye.
Lindsay will walk you through the top 5 tips to backing up your work. Some of the ticks to make sure you can get it all back, just when you thought all was lost.

Google+ should you be there?
Google+ is one of the newer social media kids on the block and a lot of businesses are wondering if they need to play in that sandbox as well. So what is Google+ all about?
Google+ is a pretty big place to network. Its platform is like a combination of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn but it's important to understand that even though there are similarities, G+ does not work like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn and must be treated quite uniquely.
So, should you be using Google+? According to Google, there are over 300 million active users but I think it's important to recognize that that number could be quite skewed. Google is a pretty powerful entity to be dealing with and they have a lot of motivational behavioural power over users.

In an age when purchasing is done through RFP contests, recruitment by HR firms on LinkedIn, and business searches done online, is business networking really as important as it once was?
The short answer is yes, and I’ll tell you why.
A friend said to me once: “Your network is your net worth,” an idea advanced by Porter Gale in her book of the same name. I have realized that this sentiment is certainly on point, even if it’s not a direct equation.
Your network is a reservoir of value that will help you solve problems, receive support, find the right people, and ultimately grow your business. In an age where much more communications happen digitally, it is more important than ever to actually make human connections.

In theory, journalism seems simple: read, see or hear something and then describe it. But theoretical journalism is much different than the real thing. Just as crafting a ‘press release’ to call attention to something is a little more complicated than it appears to be.
An ‘advisory’ is a great way to get some immediate or future publicity by suggesting to assignment editors, producers and reporters that something is about to occur or a ‘newsmaker’ will be available for an interview or general media availability at a particular place and date. If the recipient sees some immediate ‘news’ value in the advisory he or she might direct a reporter to follow up. If not, the advance notice is usually appreciated and the newsroom will put that information in their ‘advance’ file.

Building a website is one of the best ways to get exposure for your business online. Web users visit sites every day, most often searching for information to help them to find a service or make a purchase decision. Websites are vital sales and marketing tools, and having one is essential to businesses both small and large.
One of the most often overlooked factors in this equation is visibility. It doesn't matter if you have the most well-designed website with the best products if nobody sees it. Search engine optimization is the science and art of getting found online, and is an essential part of the website-building process.

How many times have we said “I just can’t fit it into my schedule” or “I don’t have time”, when it comes to working out? Being the sole provider for my family by working two jobs and lending a hand with my two children when I am at home doesn’t leave much time to worry about exercise or diet, right? Well, I can sit here and blah blah about it and tell you what you have heard a thousand times and perhaps that is what is going to happen for some of you. But, if this converstion helps one person to start up a fitness regime or healthier eating habits or provides the motivation for a better life in general, then it is worth its weight in gold.

Any entrepreneur can tell you that the cost of setting up and running a small business can be overwhelming. Especially in the early years, the cash flow seems to flow all one way: out! It is so easy to get discouraged and quit or conversely, to disregard the true amount of money that is being invested into the business until the reality of it becomes impossible to ignore. Thus the question, “What’s the cost?” is important. From the perspective of a business and life coach, this question is not only important, it is critical. And perhaps not only in the monetary sense of the word.
