On our last show, we hosted a Texas trio of candidates who had great visions for representing the people. We had such a great time, we're heading down to Lone Star state again this Sunday!
*Our first guest is Steve Brown, candidate for Texas Railroad Commission. Steve considers himself a public advocate for the Railroad Commission (RRC). He has 5 pillars for reforming & improving the RRC: establishing an Office of Public Advocacy, Adequate Funding, Staff Training & Development, Environmental Stewardship, as well as Job Creation & Workforce. Tune in around quarter after 7pm Eastern to learn more about these pillars of strong and safe railroad advocacy in Texas: http://www.electstevebrown.com/
*James Cargas is man with Capitol Hill & White House experience, along with progressive ideals and a legal mind, running for Congress in Texas. Mr. Cargas has vast experience in environmental law and advocacy. His voice is quite needed in a state that has a private sector that has made $Billions and has scarred the environment in the process. Catch James' wonderful voice for the environment and other issues about a quarter to 8pm Eastern: http://www.jamescargas.com/
*Our final guest and second Congressional candidate of the evening is running in a very famous Congressional race. Wesley Reed's opponent is in Bill Maher's Final Four in the #FlipADistrict contest. Wesley is already a "friend of the show," having appeared on our show back in April. Wesley is a Marine veteran from a working class military family. As a current FedEx pilot, Wesley has some great insight on terrorism and job creation. Catch this amazing candidate around 8:20pm Eastern: http://www.wesleyreed.com/
I'm excited about this Lone Star crowd. Aren't you? Let's get the conversation going...
It's been awhile since The #SocialSpitballShow visited the Lone Star State, so with the help of Texan Barry Sensa of Facebook (as well as Robin Conrad & Crystal Stephens), we were able to make this a Lone Star Show.
Our first guest from Texas is Dr. David Alameel, who won a March Democratic primary to run against U.S. Senator John Cornyn. The Texas primary was so contested, that there was a need for a primary runoff. That just confirms the great worth of Dr. Alameel as a candidate for U.S. Senate. Alameel is ready to take on Cornyn and fight for the people of Texas who deserve (at least one) sane representative in the U.S. Senate. Listen for Dr. Alameel's conversation with us shortly after the start of the show: http://alameelforsenate.com/
Our second Lone Star candidate is Louie Minor, who is running for Congress from Texas' 31st district. Louie is an Iraq combat veteran, a current Captain in the Army Reserves and a third generation Latino-American. As he says on his website, "Like the rest of the country, I am dissatisfied with congress. Our government, our economy, and our families are hostage to inaction. Elected officials place their personal beliefs and their party above the people they serve, and it’s time for that to change." Catch his conversation around quarter to 8pm Eastern: http://www.louieminor.com/
Our last Texas guest is Kathy King, who is running for Texas Board of Education, District 7. Kathy is running to provide a voice for quality education in Texas. This means factual text books for history and science and increased support for Special Education. Tune in to hear Kathy's fight for good education after 8pm Eastern: http://www.kathyking2014.com/
Let's get this Lone Star conversation going...
Missouri has made the national headlines for very tragic and upsetting reasons within the last week, with the unnecessary shooting (murder) of young man Mike Brown. This is one of the many issues that 3 great Missouri candidates will tackle in this episode.
Arthur Lieber, running for Congress in Missouri's 2nd district, has been an educator in the St. Louis area for over four decades. He helped found the Crossroads School, which is now the Crossroads College Preparatory School in 1974. He was director of the school for 15 years. He founded a non-profit organization called Civitas Associates in 1991, which provides opportunities for students in the area to strengthen their thinking skills in the area of such subjects as international relations, human rights and urban studies. Learn more about Arthur's resume of positive influence just after 7pm Eastern: http://www.lieberforcongress.com/
Dr. Bill Hedge is running for Congress in Missouri's 6th district. Dr. Hedge believes in a few key things on his journey to Congress. Among them is the goal of rebuilding the middle class. As he puts it, "when the middle class wins, we all win." He also is ready to fight for women's equality. This means equal pay for equal work, women controlling the conversation about their bodies and allowing their powerful voices to be heard loud and clear. Learn more about Dr. Hedge's practical and positive approach to governance around 8pm Eastern: https://elect-hedge-to-congress.com/
Our final guest is Susan Cunningham, running for Missouri House, district 119. Susan believes in a living wage and expanding Medicaid to save lives and rural hospitals. Learn more about her campaign around 8:30pm Eastern: http://www.cunningham4staterep.com/
Missouri needs these voices. Let's get the conversation going...
This episode got cut short due to a family matter . . . but I will be talking with Bram Maravent very soon to pick up where we left off.
This episode of The #SocialSpitballShow features two Democratic candidates for Congress who began their lives in the Republican Party, but gradually moved away from the increasingly radical party it has become.
The first of our two candidates on this show is Will Bronson. Bronson's wife is a "life coach specializing in Radical Forgiveness." Unabashedly sharing his resume of involvement in the Republican Party, Bronson reveals his dedication to fairness in government and to making sure more people have their voices heard in the democratic process. Advocating for re-regulation of banks & the removal of big money in politics, as well as a smart grid power system built on green energy, Bronson reveals that among other things, he is for the people and the environment. Catch more about Will's stance on things after the introduction after 7pm Eastern: http://www.bronsonforcongress.com/
Our second candidate also came out of Republican Party activism that was driven by his dedication to service learned from his parents & his service in the Boy Scouts & the military. Mark Greene, an expert marksmen and former Military Police officer, started out in politics on a local level helping a neighbor run and win a school board campaign. After standing with fellow Texan George H.W. Bush against Pat Robertson in the Republican Party nomination process, Mark soon saw that his party didn't sync with his values. An obvious education advocate, Mark also stumps for political finance reform, energy and natural resource security, as well as other important issues. Learn more about Mark Greene's campaign around 8pm Eastern: http://www.markgreeneforcongress.org/
These two demonstrate what it means to put people before partisan politics...something we desperately need! Let's get the conversation going...
