    RIB Radio will be talking to filmmaker , Yake Smith about the HBO short film festival held at the American Black Film Festival."The HBO Short Film Award competition, which has been an integral part of the festival for 15 years, is one of the most prestigious platforms for emerging filmmakers. Five finalists' films are screened before the festival audience and each vie for a grand prize of $20,000. In addition, the films in competition will also be considered for broadcast on one of HBO’s programming services. Talent discovered through this competition include filmmakers: Sylvain White (The Losers, Stomp the Yard), Frank E.     Please join Divas Boss Lady as she interviews Tommy Nichols  who is the CEO of Glorified Media (GM); a media marketing and management company that creates and manage media based assets. Under GM umbrella is The Charlotte Black Film Festival, Tommy Filmworks,  an innovative film, and event video production company.


    For the fourth year the Charlotte Black Film Festival (CBFF) will screen three days of independent films that express the African American experience. It all happens Feb 27th – Mar 1st during the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) basketball tournament. Since relocating this event to Charlotte, it has drawn over 80,000 people from across the country into the downtown and surrounding areas and will serve as the backdrop for this year’s festival.


    There mission is to create economic empowerment for, heighten awareness of, promote the significance and need for African American cinema as an art form, and to be a voice for independent filmmakers of color.

    Writer/Director/Producer of Carter High Arthur Jordan-Mohammad

    Join Destiny Empowerment Hour Radio's Host Cherise L. Riley as she sits down with Writer, Director and Producer Arthur Jordan-Mohammad to discuss his upcoming movie release Carter High!


    Arthur is a rare breed of filmmaker who integrates every element into the art and science of cinematography. He studied Cinema at Southern Methodist University. He won best short film for  "C'Ya" in the Dallas Black Film Festival and the 21st Annual Scottsdale Film Festival.


    Arthur's first feature "Solitaire", also won best film in the Dallas Black Film Festival, and went on to be distributed by Maverick Entertainment. Arthur has had to learn just about every facet of making a film, from writing, shooting, editing, directing, scoring, and producing.


    The multi-talented award-winning director was recently honored as a writer for his screenplay, Carter High, at the 2009 Cinema City International Film Festival’sScreenwriter Awards, in Los Angeles. Carter High is the long awaited true story of the 1988 Carter High Cowboys, the most feared high school football team in Texas state history. It is the Carter High story that inspired Friday Night Lights. Arthur's second feature, Black Angels, the story of a private child support agency that believes in collecting payment by any means necessary, received a second place award in the Dallas Black Film Festival and received distribution through Wells Go, USA.
