Interview with recording artist Ca$hon Able

    in Goals

Born Rashawn Able was born in Jamaica Queens, New York. Growing up in a house full of people, Ca$hon was exposed genres of music ranging from Hip Hop, Reggae, Dance Hall, Gospel, Calypso, and Alternative Rock. Hip Hop hands down became Ca$hon’s music of choice. Hearing his siblings, cousins, and aunties listen to artist like Jay-z, Nas, Dmx, Biggie Smalls, 2pac, Big L, Big Pun, etc. At age 8 Ca$hon learned he had a natural talent for Free styling. Although basketball was his true love, he enjoyed freestyling along with songs he would hear on his favorite radio station, Hot 97. In 2009 one of Ca$hon’s older brothers “Akil” was killed in a Hit and Run accident. Akil had a true passion for making music, he and Ca$hon would rap together as often as they could. It was the passing of Akil that sparked the flame in Ca$hon that drive him to pursue music and aspire to be one of the best to do it. Ca$hon’s oldest brother Otis gave him the name Ca$hon because his jump shot was like money. In 2011 Ca$hon recorded his first song with his high school rap group Hellaspit. The track was named” The Code”. “The Code” later became known as a classic amongst their student body. Since then Ca$hon and his crew “Hellaspit” have made countless hits. Ca$hon has one mission and one mission only, and that’s to dominate the Hip Hop industry and take over the game with his team, and that’s exactly what he plans to do. Ca$hon’s music can be found on (Reverbnation.com) under “Ca$hon Able”, (Sound Cloud.com) under “Rashawn Able”, and (Numberonemusic.com) under “Hellaspit”. Follow on (Twitter) “@Hellaspit” and you can find me on (Face Book) under “Cashon Able”.

A Thug's Redemption-Not your typical "thug" in this urban-tragic drama full of suspense with a twist of irony. A Thug's Redemption hits home for many urban youths who simply just want to make it out of the 'hood ALIVE! Taking place in one of the roughest neighborhoods in North Philly during a time when crime and violence was as normal as hot-sauce on fried chicken, and the temptations of the profitable street pharmacy business seemed to be a fast escape from the impoverish and hellish nightmare that Jamal and his brother lived in, this street lit novel teaches a harsh life lesson that will either cause Jamal to make wiser decisions, or destroy him completely. What starts out as an eye for an eye mindset to avenge his best friend's murder, who Jamal believed was killed because of his own actions, sucks him into the street life and lands him right in the middle of a drug war between his cousin Samir, a prominent head figure in the drug dealing business, rival drug gangs, and crooked Philadelphia Police Officers. Jamal is viewed as a "thug", a misguided, trouble making, dope dealing, dice shooting, fist fighting thug who is more likely to see the closing lid to his casket or the sliding bars to a jail cell before the age of 21. But those who know Jamal personally understand that really all he wants is to keep his brother safe and have a life with a beautiful young lady named Tamera who helps him to see that there is much more to life outside of what he's been exposed to in North Philly. But can Jamal really have that life, or is it like Biggie Smalls said- "It was all a dream..."?

She Said, on Next Steps Radio

    in Books

February and April are He Said/She Said months on Next Steps Radio!

In February, the men had their turn. This is She Said, the conclusion to our gender wars panel discussion on the question: does gender count when it comes to writing thrillers? Are there differences between the two sets of authors and the books they write? And the biggie: is one gender more likely to be successful than the other?

Please join host and award-winning suspense novelist Jenny Milchman as she talks to two female authors about whether sex matters.

Nina Sadowsky is a filmmaker who has written numerous screenplays and produced such films as "The Wedding Planner," starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey, "Lost Souls," starring Winona Ryder, "Desert Saints," starring Kiefer Sutherland, and "Northern Lights" starring Diane Keaton. Sadowsky is also an adjunct professor at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where she teaches producing and script development. JUST FALL is her debut novel.

Wendy Tyson is an author, lawyer and former therapist from Philadelphia. She writes two series, the Allison Campbell Mystery Series and the Greenhouse Mystery Series. Wendy is a member of Sisters in Crime and International Thriller Writers, and she is a contributing editor for The Big Thrill and The Thrill Begins, International Thriller Writers’ online magazines.
