The sunshine of a summer day perfectly reflects the optimism surrounding the 2015 Steelers.
With each passing day, there seems to be a new ranking that has the Steelers near or at the top of the list. One of the more recent lists included Ben Roethlisberger's place among the other "elite" quarterbacks in the NFL, something co-hosts Chris Carter and I will discuss during this week's edition of our weekly Steelers podcast, "What's Hot", which will air Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. ET.
To listen live, go to our BlogTalkRadio page at the start of the show. To listen anytime, search "The Standard is The Standard" on iTunes to listen in the podcast section. The podcast will also be featured on Thursday here on BTSC.
While the offense has been the story this offseason, the defense has been mostly overshadowed despite many changes to that side of the ball which includes the promotion of new defensive coordinator Keith Butler. Chris and I will give some predictions in regards to what you can expect from this new generation of Steelers defense.
This episode of "What's Hot" will also give way too early predictions in regards to the NFL playoffs, and what AFC teams could give the Steelers the biggest challenge to come out of the AFC this season. While Le'Veon Bell's career is too green to include him among the list of all-time running backs, that won't stop us from ranking our top-10 greatest running backs of all-time. See if Chris and I agree with the BTSC readers that recently voted Barry Sanders as the greatest running back of all-time.
Fans are encouraged to call in at (347) 850-8581 and tell us who is in your top-10 all-time running backs list, along with any other questions Steelers related. Enjoy the show!
On the latest edition of the Behind the Steel Curtain flagship podcast, "The Standard is the Standard", Jeff Hartman and Lance Williams will discuss all thing Pittsburgh Steelers, but more importantly why the Steelers will be the AFC representative in Super Bowl 50.
The Point/Counterpoint segment will be based around the following categories which will be debated at length:
- Ben Roethlisberger the best QB in the AFC
- Steelers have the best WR corps in the NFL
- Le'Veon Bell the best RB in the league
- The defensive issues in the secondary can easily be fixed
- The team's pass rush will improve, creating more turnovers.
Be sure to tune in live tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET for the best Steelers talk on the Internet. Be a part of the show by following the discussion on Twitter (@btsteelcurtain), calling in live (347) 850-8581 and listening on our BlogTalkRadio page.
With no new news surrounding Tom Brady and Deflategate, we're going to spend more time discussing Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was ranked as the No.3 best quarterback in the NFL according to NFL.com'sElliott Harrison. We'll break down Big Ben's ranking along with sharing with you our top-10 quarterback list.
We'll also delve into the potential PAT changes to be voted on this week by the NFL owners. What are the new options for the PAT? And what does this mean for the Steelers? We'll address these questions while offering our thoughts on what should happen to the PAT.
In an interview with ESPN last week, Le'Veon Bell touched on several topics that included marijuana and the status of his right knee. We'll recap the interview and discuss whether or not Steelers fans should be worried about No.26's knee heading into next season.
It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since the 1995 Steelers captured the franchise's first AFC title since the '79 Steelers. We'll go back to the '90s and relive the greatest moments from that magical season that ended with a spirited battle against the Cowboys in Super Bowl XXX.
We want to hear the voice of Steelers Nation, so feel free to call the show at (347) 850-8581 to join us in our conversation of the Black and Gold. If you can't listen live, search "The Standard is The Standard" on iTunes to listen to the podcast anytime. The podcast will also be featured Wednesday here on BTSC.

Portland TrailBlazer fans are upset. Four of the teams' starters from a year ago are gone. Damian Lillard is the only starter left. Does he have what it takes to live up to a new and higher-demanding leadership role on the team this coming season?
His journey to the NBA suggests that he is. Damian has been an underdog his entire career and has constantly proved his critics wrong. Making it out of East Oakland is a feat not to be overlooked either...
Joining me on this 4th episode of "Ben on Hoops" is Oakland native and Sports editor of the Beacon Newspaper, Ms. Malika Andrews. She gives her thoughts on Damian Lillard and the present state of the Portland TrailBlazers.
