Bourdain in the Bronx, Beatbox Championships, NY rap show (p)reviews & more

    in Music

As usual, there are a ton of hip hop happenings in and around the Mecca of hip hop music and culture. The South Bronx, the birthplace, was just featured on an episode of Anthony Bourdain's CNN series, Parts Unknown, and many of the borough's hip hop representatives were featured prominently and positively. It's always good when that happens. We'll discuss the episode and how hip hop is shown to the masses.

Also, a quick preview of an upcoming celebration of an oft-underappreciated elemental aspect of hip hop and rap music, the beatbox, as we preview the upcoming American Beatbox Championships, going down this coming weekend as part of a 3-day event.

Of course, we'll review and preview several other shows, and talk about new music from the likes of A$AP Rocky and others, while taking YOUR CALLS on anything NY hip hop related.

Tune in, call in. It's New York Hip Hop's #1 talk radio show!

Butterscotch and Imagiin 360 Interview: Az 1 Promo Radio

    in Music

Butterscotch is a singer/beatboxer who incorporates her musical background of piano, guitar and bass into her compositions and performances. She is heavily influenced by jazz, classical, hip hop and R&B artists ranging from Frederic Chopin to John Coltrane to Stevie Wonder. After high school she was accepted into the music program at California State University Sacramento as a Classical Piano Major but after a couple years she was touring so much and decided to pursue her dreams of making it in the musical world.

Now Butterscotch is an internationally recognized vocal artist, most popularly known from her appearance on NBC's "America's Got Talent" as a finalist. Ellen DeGeneres was so impressed with her skills she invited Butterscotch to perform on her show where she amazed the crowd singing, playing the piano and beatboxing. Prior to America’s Got Talent, Butterscotch claimed titles as both the first International World Female Beatbox Champion and the West Coast Beatbox Champion for both genders. Butterscotch has made such an impact on young women, she was even the inspiration of a teenage girl to be transformed into a beatboxer on MTV’s MADE and also performed on Tyra Banks show encouraging another young talented female beatboxer to continue working to be on top.
