    Why Own Your Career?

    in Jobs

Why are we born to own our careers?

-Our ancestors had to be resourceful and creative to feed themselves and survive.

-Work in its current form is a new invention and the rare exception in history, not a natural human state.

How has the world of work changed?

-The traditional career paths and assumptions are no longer valid — e.g. that big corporations will take care of loyal workers who automatically move up in a career escalator — due to at least two (interrelated) macro forces:

-(1) Technology (automates jobs, changes the nature of jobs, and makes it easier to offshore jobs), and

-(2) Globalization (increases competition for jobs).

-“Professional loyalty now flows ‘horizontally’ to and from your network rather than ‘vertically’ to your boss.”

-“Networking has been replaced by intelligent network building.”

-“Searching for a job only when you’re unemployed or unhappy at work has been replaced by always be generating

    -opportunities.”

    -And much much more!

Coach Rod is ready to take your most difficult and sensitive career questions you have.  Listen in on the internet via www.BlogTalkRadio.com/OwnYourCareer and call in with your tough questions at 347-857-3320.

Health Liberty Dr Deb ND: Cleanse & Purify Part 2

    in Health

As the colon is cleansed, it pushes undigested waste through your system, clearing the way for good nutrient absorption. If waste remains in the body for too long, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria and illness. A clean colon from a colon detox allows undigested waste to pass easily through your system.  The intestinal tract an digestive system serve as the hub of the entire body--all organs, glands, and even our brains, heart, and cells are totally dependent upoin a well functioning digestive system.  God made everything perfect~~  We will cover and discuss the 4 steps to overcoming dis-ease. If an angel came and gave a formula that would cure almost any dis-ease, it would against the law to claim its effectiveness. There is no such thing as a incurable dis-ease!

Scripture for this teaching:  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2 KJV

Hybrid Jazz: Javier Colon a No Show - Geneva Renee a Last Minute Replacement!

    in Music

The initial connection that I had with Javier Colon was through Matt Cusson.  Matt is another of those supremely talented singer/songwriters who partnered with Javier a long time ago.  Dig through some You Tube videos and feast your ears :)

Fast forward to the debut of "The Voice" and you probably remember the excitement of everyone associated with it.  Nobody more than Javier Colon.  He had been through some record label wars and had suffered strong disappointment - but he never gave up that his dream would come true.  And it DID - he was the first WINNER on this still wildly popular show.  Matter-of-fact, Javier just visited his pals - one of them still remains a golf buddy, Adam Levine.

We're focusing on this amazing talent for two reasons: one is that he has a new album called "Gravity."  It means a lot to Javier because his new label, Concord, gave him serious creative control - which he has hankered to have for quite some time.  Another reason for our visit is because he is coming to Ram's Head in Annapolis in early May - so we're having our get-together just before then: perfect!

This is a breathtaking artist, full of passion and energy and nuance.  His tracks on "Gravity" will leave you craving intimate moments and truths told in the dark.  See what he does to your radio host here? ;)  Don't take my word for the effect that Javier Colon has - ask Stevie Nicks or Darius Rucker or the Indigo Girls - or even Derek Trucks, with whom Javier spent many a mile on tour as vocalist.  All of the above have worked with this beautiful soul and they KNOW how special his gift is.  Going back to "The Voice" - do you remember when all four judges turned around during Javier's initial performance? That's a rarity  But so is HE.  You already know.  See you on Javier's Birthday: 4/29!

Live:Honoring a Living Reggae Icon CARLOS MALCOLM music legacy

    in Music

Carlos Malcolm was born in Panama 1935 to Jamaican parents and grew up in Kingston. His father, Wilfred Malcolm, went to Panama and worked as a bookkeeper in the Panama Canal Zone. He became a prominent business man in the city of Colon, established homes in both countries and sent his five children back to Jamaica to be educated. Having studied the liturgy and music of the Anglican (Episcopalian) Church, Wilfred Malcolm was an Anglican church choir director for many years. He also played trombone in the "Jazz Aristocrats", a Panamanian Dixieland band for which he was manager, and he took the band to Jamaica in 1936

This probably accounts for Carlos's notoriety among peers as a "musical chameleon" because he arranges music and functions comfortably in a variety of musical cultures and genres. His father and a few prominent West Indian businessmen in Panama formed a committee that brought to Panama world-class Black American artists in the performing arts. As a child, Carlos recalls listening from the bedroom to conversations and laughter from guests, including celebrated artistsPaul Robeson (baritone), Marian Anderson (contralto), Hazel Scott–Powell (wife of Adam Clayton Powell Jr., of Abyssinia Baptist Church of Harlem) as they came to late dinners after recitals at a local theatre.

Carlos's father taught him to play the trombone. He also recognised Carlos's natural gift for creating and arranging music and supported his son's desire to pursue an education in the arts. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Union Institute and University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
