It’s sugar and spice and everything Dave Barry Wednesday, December 24, 2014, 3 pm ET when The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Talk Radio for Fine Minds welcomes the humorist to Halli’s table for a conversation that we promise you will bring you everything nice.
Does Dave Barry really need an introduction? Dave Barry is the Pulitzer Prize-winning, New York Times bestselling author and columnist, who wrote a nationally syndicated humor column for The Miami Herald from 1983 to 2005. He has also written more than 30 books, including novels and non-fiction, his most recent bestsellers include INSANE CITY and I’LL MATURE WHEN I’m DEAD. Two of Barry’s books became the basis for the CBS sitcom Dave’s World.
Dave Barry is the gift that keeps on giving. The humorist is out with yet another hysterically funny book, a gem that will keep you laughing uproariously: YOU CAN DATE BOYS WHEN YOU’RE FORTY, which he bills as Dave Barry on parenting and other topics he knows very little about. Oh, boy, here we go…

"Progress Toward Democrcy w/ Brian Stetten and Ruthann RA Amarteifio' is happy to welcome Danny Weil back!!
We begin by Brian Stetten briefly discussing right wing libertarian insanity and the promotion of freedom and democracy for plutocrats only.
Then education/labor activist, and public attorney Danny Weil will discuss picking your poison: Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Clinton. How the plutocrats made a mockery of representative democracy!
Danny Weil is a writer for Project Censored and Daily Censored. He received the Project Censored "Most Censored" News Stories of 2009-10 award for his article: "Neoliberalism, Charter Schools and the Chicago Model / Obama and Duncan's Education Policy: Like Bush's, Only Worse," published by Counterpunch, August 24, 2009.
Dr. Weil has published more than seven books on education in the past 20 years. You can also read much more about the for-profit, predatory colleges in his writings found at Counterpunch.com, Dailycensored.com, dissidentvoice.com and Project Censored.com where he has covered the issue of the privatization of education for years. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
His book, an encyclopedia on charter schools, entitled: "Charter School Movement: History, Politics, Policies, Economics and Effectiveness," 641 pages, was published in August of 2009 by Grey House Publishing, New York, and provides a scathing look at the privatization of education through charter schools.
Join us for an on air celebration of the shortest day of the year at Winter Solstice. Nicole Tomassin, RA Ruthann Amarteifio, Gwendolyn H. Barry, and guest ceremonialists will conduct a multitraditional on air ritual for you to meditate with.
Amy Alkon's Advice Goddess Radio: "Nerd Your Way To A Better Life!" with the best brains in science.
On this show, a "Best Of" replay, cognitive psychologist Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman lays out why intelligence tests currently used are far too limiting in determining a student’s true potential.
Kaufman is a rigorous researcher whose work I know and respect, but his new book, UNGIFTED: Intelligence Redefined, offers much more than science. It offers inspiration in Kaufman’s own story as a “late listener” (due to a spate of ear infections) who was put into learning disabled classes. And then, in 9th grade, through sheer determination, pushed his way into a gifted kids’ class -- ultimately going on to Yale, getting a Ph.D., then going on to become a young professor at NYU.
On this show, we’ll discuss the limitations of current testing and a host of other things that matter in whether a child succeeds and how Scott thinks we would better assess talent, creativity, and “the many paths to greatness.”
Join me and all my fascinating guests every Sun, 7-8 p.m. Pacific, 10-11 p.m. Eastern, at blogtalkradio.com/amyalkon or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher.
Please buy my science-based and funny book on better human behavior, "Good Manners for Nice People Who Sometimes Say F*ck." Along with positive reviews in the WSJ and other publications, Library Journal gave the book a starred review: "Verdict: Solid psychology and a wealth of helpful knowledge and rapier wit fill these pages. Highly recommended."
