Jump "In the Pickle Barrel" at 8AM EST- 10AM EST as we dedicated the morning to the slugfest to get our country's budget under control. The Conservative Right is trying it's best to get a Balanced Budget Amendment passed. The Liberal Left will hear nothing concerning a balanced budget. I am not sure anyone knows what a Balanced Budget means!
Well,Tuesday, March 24, 2015 is Balanced Budget Day "In the Pickle Barrel". At approximately the 8:30AM mark Congressman Tom Rice (R-SC) will be joining us to give his take on the issue. At the 9AM mark Congressman Renee Ellmers (R-North Carolina) will share her opinion on the issue. Hopefully other invited guess will share Balanced Budget Day with us during our discussions.
Through the discussions we will also look at the Pros and Cons of a Balanced Budget. As always, the online live Chat Room will be open for your comments and questions. Also, you are welcome to call in at 855-236-2486 to share your opinions and questions.
The Federal Budget should be of major concern to every citizen of this country we call The United States of America.
Shane Krauser, the host of Liberty Storm, takes on the critical issues of the day and tells you what the rule of law, liberty, and our Constitution has to say about it all. Shane talked about the following issues:
1. Lou Marin and Loren Enns of IAmAmerican.org and the Balanced Budget Amendment Task Force are both advocating a state-initiated Article V Convention to amend the Constitution. What are the advantages and disadvantages? Is it a viable option?
2. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) argues that the Democratic effort to amend the Constitution so Congress can impose limits on political spending by companies is really about “restoring freedom of speech for everyone in America.” What was the original intent of the First Amendment anyways?

Anti-poverty programs that were put in place as a safety net have instead created a cycle of generational dependency we call the welfare state. Government assistance is no longer a temporary condition, but has become a way of life.
At the same time, big government spending has created $18 trillion dollars in national debt and there appears to be no end in sight. Entitlements and government spending are on an unsustainable course.
The easy answer to this problem is to stop spending.
Many will say that America needs tax reform or a balanced-budget amendment. Although these are good ideas, Dr. Jerome Huyler, explains in his book, "The Case Against Welfare," the best way to correct the problem is to defund Obamacare and dismantle the welfare state. This includes anti-poverty programs, earmarks, business bailouts, farm subsidies and many other entitlements.

If your first thought was that we lived on our savings, think again. Here are some bullet points of what route we chose to go when we were faced with no income for a full year:
We did not have a savings to live from
We did not go on a government assistance program
We did not move in with family to avoid mortgage or rent
We did not split up our family to handle the situation.
Some of the things we did do were:
Live off the garden.
Waste NO food.
Barter food items.
Sell off most of our belongings.
Downsize to one car.
Cut out most entertainment.
You'll have to listen to the show to hear how we did this...
Have fun and enJOY the journey!

America Never Abolished Slavery
This past Black History Month, millions of students were told the story of how America abolished slavery 150 years ago with ratification of the 13th Amendment. The story draws an upward trajectory of racial equality in America from the abolition of slavery to Brown v. Board of Education to the Civil Rights Act to the election of President Obama.
The problem is the story isn't true. We never actually abolished slavery. The 13th Amendment states:
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
"...except as a punishment for crime..." This phrase gets ignored in America's telling of its slavery story. The 13th Amendment did not abolish slavery but rather moved it from the plantation to the prison. In 2015, the 2 million (largely Black) people incarcerated in America are legally considered slaves under the Constitution. As a result, they can and are forced to work for pennies an hour with the profits going to counties, states and private corporations including Target, Revlon and Whole Foods. In fact, there are more Black people enslaved today than in 1800.
This is no accident. In The New Jim Crow, Michelle Alexander lays out how a system of Jim Crow replaced slavery and later how a system of mass incarceration rose to replace Jim Crow. During Reconstruction, Southern states quickly took advantage of the 13th Amendment's slavery loophole by arresting Black people for minor crimes such as unemployment, loitering or gambling, and selling them to private employers through the convict lease system. Today, the majority of Black people enslaved in prisons were arrested for drug crimes. Even though Black people use drugs at the same rate as White people, they are incarcerated .

Most of us were raised with the idea that if we get sick we should go to the doctor for a remedy. If a person wants to Take Charge of their health they need to get to the root cause of their symptoms or dis-ease. This podcast gives the number one cause, according to well known surgeon and teacher, Dr. Bernie Siegel, and offers the solutions that don't cost a fortune. The number one reason for most bankruptcies is medical bills, so you can bet another pill isn't the solution. Tune in for a simple cause and simple solutions for those on a budget.
