Therefore come out from among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 2 Corinthians 6:17
The land of Canaan was devoted to the worship of Baal. The Semitic word Baal means "lord" or "master" and the Canaanites believed that Baal was in absolute control over nature and over people. They believed that the only god who was superior to Baal was his father El, but Baal was the principal deity of the land. It was he who was in charge of the rain and the weather, and man's survival was dependent upon Baal's provision.
"One may question that those ancient enemies of Israel were as evil as the Bible claims that they were, but even a superficial glance at Canaanite religion alone ably demonstrates their iniquity. Base sex worship was prevalent, and religious prostitution even commanded; human sacrifice was common; and it was a frequent practice--in an effort to placate their gods--to kill young children and bury them in the foundations of a house or public building at the time of construction: Joshua 6:26 "In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn..."

2 Kings 10:25-28New King James Version (NKJV)
25 Now it happened, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, “Go in and kill them; let no one come out!” And they killed them with the edge of the sword; then the guards and the officers threwthem out, and went into the inner room of the temple of Baal. 26 And they brought thesacred pillars out of the temple of Baal and burned them. 27 Then they broke down thesacred pillar of Baal, and tore down the temple of Baal and made it a refuse dump to this day. 28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal from Israel.

1 Kings 18:37-39New King James Version (NKJV)
37 Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, andthat You have turned their hearts back to You again.”
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! TheLord, He is God!”

So Ahab sent a message among all the sons of Israel and brought the prophets together at Mount Carmel. Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people did not answer him a word. Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the Lord, but Baal’s prophets are 450 men. Now let them give us two oxen; and let them choose one ox for themselves and cut it up, and place it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other ox and lay it on the wood, and I will not put a fire under it. Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord, and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” And all the people said, “That is a good idea.”
So Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one ox for yourselves and prepare it first for you are many, and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.” Then they took the ox which was given them and they prepared it and called on the name of Baal from morning until noon saying, “O Baal, answer us.” But there was no voice and no one answered. And they leaped about the altar which they made. It came about at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Call out with a loud voice, for he is a god; either he is occupied or gone aside, or is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and needs to be awakened.” So they cried with a loud voice and cut themselves according to their custom with swords and lances until the blood gushed out on them. When midday was past, they raved until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice; but there was no voice, no one answered, and no one paid attention.
Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he...

As Political Correctness rises in what we now called paganism : the state of being pagan: a religion that has many gods or goddesses, considers the earth holy, and does not have a central authority.
Enticement for Power by Seduction - Bemidbar/Numbers 25:1-3
While Israel lived in Shittim, the people began to whore with the daughters of Moab. These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. So Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor. And the anger of Ha'Shem was kindled against Israel.
The Apostle Peter warns us to be sober and vigilant because our adversary the Devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour. But in process of time, poets, philosophers and theologians would muse over the nature of what is truly good and what is truly evil. Even Satan himself would be reinvented during the renaissance of the 14th – 17th century and the so-called age of enlightenment which followed. No longer was Satan the Prince of Darkness, the enemy of mankind and devourer of the Just. He was instead a tragic hero who suffered unjustly at the hand of God for his desire to free humanity from ignorance and tyranny by granting them forbidden knowledge. The Satanists of the past met in secret, clad in black and practiced the most diabolical of magics. But the world has changed and with it the passing away of Biblical values. The Satanist no longer feels the need to hide in shadow. Satanists of today are unremarkable young men and women who trumpet their love for the adversary on blogs, social media and even in song. They Scoff at the rules and regulations imposed on them by God and despise any and all Biblical instructions. For them, the freedom and acceptance they crave can only be found in the loving arms of the Beast. But are they truly free...or merely slaves to thier own ungodly lusts? Join us today for another installment of “From Darkness to Light” as we examine and expose Satan’s false promise of liberation that has enslaved a Generation!

They joined themselves also to Baal of Peor, And ate sacrifices made to the dead. Thus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds. And a plague broke out among them. Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and so the plague was stopped. And that was accounted to him for righteousness. To all generations forevermore.
