TS Radio:"Voices Carry for Animals #85" HSUS-2 Guests

    in Health

    Hosted by Debbie Dahmer

Guests will be: Dr. Michael Greger- Director of Public Health and Animal Welfare & Ashley Rhinehart- RN & Senior Food & Nutrition Manager for the HSUS

“The study by Kothapalli et al does not present any evidence linking vegetarianism to cancer.  The researchers compared a genetic marker in a population in India (most of which ate meat) to a U.S. population and found higher rates of a gene variant that facilitates the elongation of omega 6 fatty acids. They found higher rates in India, which they speculated may have come from natural selection over generations of a population which historically has been about 40% vegetarian. The study says nothing about the health of U.S. vegetarians (or Indian vegetarians for that matter). People who have this gene variant would simply need to avoid omega 6 rich oils like sunflower, safflower, and cottonseed oil, which is a good idea anyway.”– Dr. Michael Greger

Michael Greger, M.D., is a physician, author, and internationally recognized professional speaker on a number of important public health issues. All proceeds that Dr,Greger receive from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements are donated to charity.

Ashley Rhinehart- RN & Senior Food & Nutrition Manager has successfully worked with schools, hospitals, federal agencies, and other institutions on more healthy, sustainable, and humane-minded purchasing programs that excite guests to try more plant-based meals.

"The issue of wild horses and burros is not simple, but one thing is very clear: if the American public does not intervene, we will lose these horses forever." Ginger Kathrens

    in Pets

    Hosted By Debbie Dahmer

Guest will be: Don Anthony- Communications Director of ARFF- Animal Rights Foundation of Florida

Promoting respect and compassion for animals in Florida has been the mission of the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF) since 1989. For over 20 years, ARFF has been one of Florida's strongest voices for animals. With your help, we will continue to fight for animals across the state. Promoting and protecting the rights of all animals.ARFF reaches out to the public through demonstrations and outreach events, letters to the editor, and personal appearances by our spokespersons on radio, television, before civic groups and in school classrooms. We also promote the well-being of animals through meetings with, and campaigns directed at, industry and community decision-makers.

Our volunteers are the heart of our organization. An active e-mail list and quarterly newsletter alerts members to upcoming demonstrations and the need for targeted letters.

Each year, ARFF’s humane education program reaches thousands of children in school classrooms and at summer camps with a message of compassion toward animals and the planet. Our interactive presentations can be geared for any age group and are designed to empower youth to make conscious and compassionate choices, encouraging a sense of personal responsibility toward animals and the planet.

ARFF would love to have the opportunity to present to your students or community group. If you have questions or would like to schedule a presentation, please contact James Wildman at e-mail: james@arff.org.

Black Bear Hunt in Florida Oct-2015 ..Not only are our state officials ignoring science, they are thwarting the people’s will. The wildlife commission received 40,000 calls, letters and emails, 75 percent of them against the hunt, then approved it anyway. It’s clear the commission is pandering to a small group of well-connected trophy hunters.

Florida animals need you to speak up for them!

TS Radio: "Voices Carry for Animals # 83": Paws of War-Guest: Lee Kirschenheiter

    in Pets

    Hosted By Debbie Dahmer

Guest will be: Lee Kirschenheiter- Paws of War Team

Paws of War trains and places rescued dogs to serve and provide independence to our United States military veterans who suffer the emotional effects of war. We work to provide independence to these military veterans. Most of our rescued dogs have been abandoned at shelters through no fault of their own. Every dog is trained for a specific veteran to fulfill his or her needs. Some veterans affected by PTSD need a sense of protection and security that only a service dog can provide. Service dogs can be trained to retrieve items for a wheelchair bound veteran, or help with balance for a veteran suffering from TBI (traumatic brain injury).

Everyday 18 U.S Veterans commit suicide. Every 8 seconds one animal is put to death in a U.S shelter.

    ***Paws of War *** Help A Vet *** Save a Pet ****

Other veterans require an emotional support dog and others simply want a comfort/companion animal. Animals have been a proven method of supplying emotional support and service to people of all walks of life and are indeed some of the best holistic remedies for wellness. All dogs are evaluated prior to training and specifically matched up with a veteran. The veteran is involved in the training process. All training and initial veterinary costs are absorbed by Paws of War.

Our motto: Helping both ends of the leash!

    Instructions for Christian Households

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
