    June 2, 2015, 10pm (PST) - 9/11 Truth with Michael Berger

    in Paranormal

The 9/11 truth movement evolved alongside the families’ movement. By the time of the second anniversary, in September 2003, the 9/11 skeptics network was able to draw thousands of participants to research conferences in New York City, Berlin, London, Toronto, the Bay Area, Durham NH, and other cities. March 2004 saw the “Citizens’ Inquiry into 9-11: Phase One” at the historic Herbst Theater in San Francisco (where the UN Charter was signed). Researchers and dissidents from many cities and countries flocked to the movement’s first great summit, achieving the first breakthroughs in the US mainstream media. The 9/11 truth movement entered American politics as a growing presence.

As its record of achievement shows, 911Truth.org has proven extraordinarily effective in reaching the public, sparking involvement and raising awareness of deception, cover-up and the need for investigation and action.

Poet and Teacher Adrian Koesters Joins Kori on the Back Porch

    in Poetry

Adrian Koesters holds an MFA in poetry from the Rainier Writing workshop at Pacific Lutheran University and a Ph.D. in fiction and poetry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her first book of poems, Many Parishes, was published by BrickHouse Books as part of their New Poets Series, and other work has appeared in Berkeley Review, The Gettysburg Review, Hotel Amerika, and elsewhere. She has been a poetry and fiction assistant editor at Prairie Schooner and fiction editor at A River and Sound Review. She taught writing at UNL and the Creighton University MFA program, and lives in Omaha, Nebraska. Web URL: www.adriankoesters.com

Koesters' Many Parishes is an original. The poems seem to smack the hard-ass contemporary world up against a deep spiritual sense, until we see they're one and the same. Adrian Koesters is able to write of men calling out to a ten-year old ''spinster'' to ''come on down, sweetheart, I got something over here to show you,'' and allow us to feel in her small, frightened heart the identical anguish of soul as in the nun who's ''divided from the principalities and goes in terror of them.'' These poems, like the nuns, ''take things personally.'' They're lyrical confessions of the deepest griefs--abuse, divorce, doubt, and loneliness. They provide absolution, and positively joy, in their skillful and lucid singing. --Fleda Brown, author of No Need of Sympathy

"The Great Atlanta Massacre" (Educators Under Attack)

    in Education

By now, you are aware of the 11 Educators in the Atlanta Public School System who were found guilty under the "Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Ac (RICO). What you probably don't know, are the facts as recorded by those involved. (Click to download "20 Facts about the Great Atlanta Massacre of Black Educators")

NCEBC wants to welcome the full village to question, understand, and support these martyrs who are standing on the basic democratic principles of equity, fairness, and justice. It is important (if not, vital) that we have this conversation to continue to dispel the myth that black children are incapable of achieving high test scores.

"We believe in accountability. We believe that data drives decision-making. We believe in research-based practices. These principles have been used for generations by high performing schools, Principals and Superintendents; especially those working and succeeding in urban communities where poverty and race are the dominant elements. This conversation is about the politics, power, economics, and restructuring of a public school system into a charter school system."

Diana Daniels, Executive Director National Council on Educating Black Children

    051415 Jack Smith-Lockport Resident

    in Politics

In this segment of the Vince Anello show, Lockport resident Jack Smith discusses local issues in Lockport.

Some of listeners who called in from the city of Lockport expressed their concern regarding  the city's finances. A finance director was recently hired and people are questioning the $95,000 salary as well as the extent of his authority.

The treasurer's salary was reduced and the City Council is considering that his duties be modified. This would require a charter change so it would be a ballot initiative in this election cycle.

The behind the scenes politics of the City of Lockport was also discussed.
