While we need more money to fight the HIV epidemic in the US, we also need to make sure the money is being spent smartly. This month, hundreds of AIDS activists descended on Washington, D.C. for the annual AIDS Watch. Desert Migration: A Post-Apocalyptic Gathering of Survivors of the AIDS Epidemic

    in Movies

Producer/Host Nicholas Snow calls the documentary film Desert Migration "a post-apocalyptic gathering of survivors of the AIDS epidemic."  In this episode, Snow welcomes the film's writer/director Daniel Cardone in advance of a Palm Springs-area benefit screening of the powerful film. Desert Migration was shot entirely in and around Palm Springs, featuring 13 gay men who moved to the city over the course of the last three decades to deal with their HIV+ status. But is this environment, with its tolerant population and constant sunshine, enough to eradicate the grief they carry within them, and strengthen them against the medications slowly poisoning their bodies?  The film was an official selection at Frameline, LA OutFest, the Austin Gay & Lesbian international Film Festival, the Paris LGBT Film Festival and CinemaQ.

This episode's main sponsors are Desert AIDS Project and Lulu California Bistro.
